If you are staying in Sydney why not indulge in the 5 star luxury that only hotels in cosmopolitan cities like Sydney can offer.
As a rough rule of thumb for Sydney 5 star hotel pricing, anything around $200 per night is a great deal, $300 per night is around average and when you get closer to $400 per night there must be a conference, show, sporting event or just a lot of tourists in town which is pushing demand and prices up (try a couple of days earlier or later if you can). You can of course spend much more than $400 per night in Sydney if you go for larger suites or stay at certain hotels such as the spectacular Park Hyatt Sydney
