Don’t Have A Kuta. Dreamy Seminyak

  • by

Dreamy SeminyakTucked into the west coast of Bali – just far enough away from Kuta to not have to think about Bintang singlets and hair braids –  is luscious Seminyak. A perfect cocktail of beach haven serenity, day spas, luxury resorts, boutique shopping, stylish bars and gourmet dining options. Here’s just a taste of things to do… or have done for you.

Stop! It’s pamper time

A wonderful way to ease into Bali time is to unwind at one of the many day spas. The Private Spa Wellness Center is renowned for its unique treatments, such as Bio energy and Zero point therapies, Chakra balancing, beauty de-aging and more.

How do you say “no” to a place that invites you to its Luxe Lounge and Luxe Caviar Spa (for manicures and pedicures), and then onto a Recovery Lounge for healthy food, juices and herbal beverages?

Chillax on the sand. Swoon under a sunset

In Bali, an area can have all the luxury experiences it likes, but it means little without great ‘beach ambience’.

Beautiful, endless Seminyak Beach and Petitenget Beach, are tempting enough to lure the most avid 5-star resort sloth down onto their soft sands.

The water is much cleaner than Kuta and you won’t find nearly as many hawkers selling their wares – another reason why you often spot celebs pulling up a daybed at one of the beachside bars.

The sunsets are spectacular from anywhere. But you should see it at least once from Pura Petitenget, a beachside temple built in the 16th century.

Designer Shopping with buff Aussie dollars

The only question, dear shopper, is where to start? For unique boutiques, designer stores and art studios, the hotspot is Jalan Laksmana.

Biasa is a favourite for lightweight and edgy natural fabric clothing, ideal in the Bali climate.

Actresses, models and tourists excited about how much bang they get for their buck adore Bong’s silk, linen and cotton high-end fashion. While the beading, crochet and lace detail of the kids clothes at Indigo & Rose is something you can’t find amongst the mass produced department stores back home.

For local arts, crafts and antiques, head to the reasonably priced Lukisan traditional and modern painting on Jalan Kunti.

Paddle or Plunge on the wild side

You can’t laze around in spas, pools and beach beds all day! Well you can, but if you feel like pushing the adrenaline buttons, take a rafting tour along the Ayung River. Between the high of paddling down rapids, there’s plenty of gorgeous Bali rainforest, cliffs, valleys and waterfalls to soak up.

On the more challenging White Water at Telga Waja, you splash through exhilarating icy waterfalls and narrow gorges before a sudden drop into the Water Dam.

If you just can’t drag yourself away from Seminyak, head to Double Six nightclub on the beach, take the elevator up to a platform 45m over their pool, and leap off in a Bungy jump.
