DC (or direct current) charging is typically always faster than AC (alternating current) charging because batteries use/store DC power. DC power goes straight into the car and does not need to be converted by the cars onboard AC to DC converter leading to faster charge times.

Most electric cars now have battery management systems (BMS) which often take care of battery health for you.
