Comparison with Similar Brands
Sofitel and SO hotels are a part of the same brand. Both have rooms with an average size of 40sqm and include leisure and business facilities like spa’s, swimming pools, fitness centres, and business centres. However, SO manages boutique properties, has a more urban flavour, and attracts a younger clientele than Sofitel. Opened back in 2011, the first SO property was Sofitel So Mauritius.
On the other hand, Sofitel Legend is often situated inside palaces and is Sofitel’s flagship brand. The first Sofitel Legend was the Métropole d’Hanoï in Vietnam.
While Sofitel hotels usually compete with brands like Intercontinental Hotels, Sofitel Legend hotels are often compared with more luxurious brands such as Four Seasons and Ritz-Carlton. Sofitel So usually competes with similar boutique hotel brands such as W hotels and Ian Schrager.
Compared to Accor’s Novotel, Sofitel usually has larger rooms and an executive lounge. Novotel hotels often have only one restaurant, while many Sofitel properties are home to 2 or even 3 dining establishments.
