Apollo Bay is a coastal town situated along Victoria’s Great Ocean Road. The town offers a splendid selection of surf and swimming beaches. In the town’s commercial centre, there are many restaurants and cafes to choose from. This area overlooks the grassy foreshore in front of the main swimming beach.
There are a number of attractions in and around Apollo Bay. These include the Cape Otway Light Station, Mariner’s Falls, Maits Rest Rainforest Walk, and Mariner’s Lookout. In the Forrest and Otway National Parks surrounding the town, there are excellent mountain biking trails. Tours can be arranged with local biking tour companies. Some nearby attractions are Cape Otway Light Station and The Otway Fly Treetop Adventures. An event to watch out for is the Apollo Bay Music Festival. This Festival brings in a dynamic line-up of musicians from domestic and international cities. Its 20th Anniversary will be held during 2012 on April 20, 21, and 22.
Those who enjoy learning about cultures and cities through exploring local museums should visit the Bass Strait Museum and the Old Cable Station Museum. For scenic views, drive along the Barham River Road. Around 5km north of Apollo Bay is Skenes Creek, a small seaside community.
