Set in a monumental building on the banks of the Amstel River, Intercontinental Amstel has a Mediterranean restaurant with a terrace. It features a health club including an indoor pool with iconic views over the river.
The tasteful rooms and (signature) suites at Intercontinental Amstel offer panoramic views over the city and the river. They combine classic decorations with modern facilities such as flat-screen satellite TV and an iPod docking station.
The concierges will give guests a warm welcome from the antique reception desk. At the health club, guests can relax in the spa bath, steam bath and sauna facilities. For a workout, the on-site fitness centre offers cardio equipment, weights and personal trainers.
The Amstel hotel has different F&B outlets. The Amstel Restaurant combines high quality and casual comfort. We proudly serve an international choice of food and drinks, with a Dutch twist. Suitable for lunch or dinner. During weekdays you can enjoy a drink in the lounge. On Saturdays and Sundays, we serve our Afternoon Tea in the lounge with two shifts. The Amstel Bar is the perfect solution for those who wish for a contemporary luxury experience. Each restaurant has a beautiful view on the Amstel River.
Royal Theatre Carré is a 5-minute walk away, while the Van Gogh Museum is at 1.9 km distance. Dam Square and the Royal Palace are a 10-minute tram ride away. Schiphol Airport is at 20 km and accessible in 25 minutes by taxi and 15 minutes by train.

The warm welcome from receptionist when we arrived. She did her best to facilitate an early check in as we had a very early flight. Beautiful flowers in the foyer. The staff at breakfast were equally outstanding. Beautiful view of the canal at breakfast.

Breakfast - great service, excellent choice of food on smorgasbord. Location - walked to most parts of town, right on the canal. Such a pretty spot. Room - absolutely beautiful. There were stairs in our room which we did not know about and were difficult to manage as we are older. We should have been given a choice of stairs/no stairs or at least have had it mentioned at check-in.
