Beverley Aeronautical Museum
,
Beverley,
Western Australia
Beverley Aeronautical Museum was built in 1967 as a tribute to Mr Selby Ford, a local resident who in 1928 started building a bi-plane from a design in a magazine. The plane took two years to complete and cost approximately 600 pounds.
Working from drawings on the power house floor, Selby Ford and a friend launched the plane in a field half a mile from the Beverley townsite. Captain Nesbitt was the test pilot and he reported the plane as safe as a church. It was flown to Maylands where it was inspected by Major De-Havilland and Amy Johnson. Because the blueprints were not available, the plane could not be licensed commercially, thereby putting an end to its flying career.
The 'Silver Centenary' was the first privately made aeroplane in the State. Today the 'Silver Centenary' forms the main attraction in the museum, together with a vampire jet, various items of aviation equipment and an Anso Cheetah 9 engine from Jimmy Woods. There are models of Air India 707 and a Malaysian-Singapore Comet Jet. The museum explains the stories of aviation from 1911 to John Glenn's epic space flight.

,
Perth,

Located nine kilometres east of Midland along the Great Eastern Highway. The Bilgoman Well Heritage Trail is a 100 metre walking track through bushland to one of Chauncy's wells and the site of an old convict depot.
In 1846 the Western Australia Government resolved to accurately survey the colony's public roads. The road to York, pioneered by Ensign Robert Dale in 1831, and linking Perth with the Avon farming district, was the first to be surveyed. Phillip La Mothe Chauncy took 12 months to complete the survey of the roads.
In addition to marking out the line of the road, Chauncy constructed a number of wells and spent many hours recording the Aboriginal names of features and places along the roads.
It was a popular picnic spot up to the 1940s but was gradually forgotten amongst the regrowth of paperbarks, teatrees and bulrushes. The well was rediscovered in 1979 by members of the Darlington Ratepayers and Residents Association, who restored it as a community bicentennial project.

Castledare Miniature Railway
,
Perth,
Western Australia
Come and enjoy a train ride through the Canning River Regional Park.
Castledare Miniature railway was established in 1963 by a group of model engineers looking for a place to run a locomotive recently built by one of the group. Permission was granted for a track to be built on what was then the Castledare Boys Home. There was a catch, in that something had to be operational for the next open day, which was just weeks away. A length of straight track was laid and trains ran on the open day. From these small beginnings came a club which operates the longest club operated track in Australia with approximately five kilometres of track and a fleet of approximately 25 locomotives and over 40 passenger carriages.
Our track winds along the banks of the Canning River and depending on the day your train may even cross one of the tributaries to the river to journey through the wetlands area. Passengers board the train at Niana Station (the main station complex) and travel towards Fern Road and on occasions, venture as far as the Kent Street weir before returning to Niana Station and the main picnic ground.
Please feel free to make use of the picnic area at our main station with it's wood fired barbecues and play equipment. Our running days during the period of May until October fall into the offical steam season and therefore more steam locomotives may be seen operating during this time however a limited amount of steam locomotives may be seen in action all year round.
As a safety requirement, fully enclosed footwear must be worn by those intending to ride on the trains. There is no entry fee to the grounds however costs apply for train rides.
