The Kununurra Half Marathon is a 21.1 kilometre running event open to participants of all abilities. Entry is open to solo competitors, who will individually run 21.1 kilometres. Team entry options are also available to participants wishing to complete half or a quarter of the race distance, as a team of four or in a team of two.

Held in the morning the Kununurra weather is expected to provide perfect running conditions at their coolest time of the year. The emphasis of the event is on participation, with great random prize draws open to all competitors.

The winner of the 2012 Sydney International Piano Competition of Australia will be announced at the Sydney Opera House on Saturday 21 July and Perth audiences have the unique opportunity to hear the latest sensation in the music world only days later.

The 2012 Sydney International Piano Competition of Australia is one of the world’s most prestigious competitions for up-and-coming young pianists aged between 17 and 30 years. First presented in 1977 and held every four years, globally the competition attracts more applicants than any other piano competition. Thirty six pianists are finally selected from auditions around the world.

Follow the action as all stages of the competition will be broadcast live on ABC Classic FM from Wednesday 4 to Saturday 21 July 2012.

This year’s twenty-fifth Far Western Championship will be held in Shark Bay.

There are a mix of divisions including the Junior Division, Street Stock, Production Sedan, Modified Production, Super Six, Sprint Cars - Limited and 320.

The Avon Descent will celebrate its 40th Anniversary in 2012, it is Western Australia’s own unique sporting event that attracts competitors and spectators from throughout Australia and overseas. Competitors challenge the Avon and Swan rivers in a variety of paddle and power craft in an exciting two-day time trial over 134 gruelling kilometres. The action packed white water race is a great event for spectators.

The AFL Masters Western Australia Broome Carnival is a celebration of Australian Rules Football to be held in Broome. Games will be played by teams that will be competing from all over Western Australia and will include local Broome sides. AFL Masters Football is a game that is designed to cater for players 35 years and over and attracts former AFL and WAFL stars and footballers from all Australian Rules Codes in this state. Games are to be played at Broome's fantastic BRAC Complex.

In April 2009, two weeks short of his nineteenth birthday, Toowoomba teenager Kristjan Terauds died due to complications from illicit drug use.

Inspired by 'April's Fool', an account of his son's death by Kristjan's father, the Empire Theatre commissioned award-winning playwright, David Burton to bring this story to the stage.

Using the words of Kristjan's friends and family interviewed over many months the result is a powerful mix of sadness, loss, and ultimately love, laced with humour.

April's Fool promises to be a thought-provoking and ultimately optimistic reflection on how we all live our lives.

The Australasian Safari is an off-road endurance rally that tests skill and courage through some amazing locations including the Murchison River and the Kennedy Range National Park.

The event attracts over 100 national and international competitors in four wheel drives, motorbikes and quads.

Competitors in this year’s Australasian Safari will be cheered off at the official starting point at Hillarys Boat Harbour and follow a route to Geraldton, Kalbarri, Carnarvon, Gascoyne Junction, Kalbarri and finishing back at Geraldton.

The Busselton Jetty Swim is a world-class 3.6 kilometre ocean water swim around the iconic Busselton Jetty in the south west of Western Australia. The swim has grown to an internationally recognised event attracting in excess of 1,300 competitors, and is open to swimmers of all abilities, from first-time novice entrants to experienced professional competitors.

The Be Active Busselton Jetty Swim 2013 will take place over two days, incorporating entertainment, activities and family fun with the swim itself on the Sunday morning. This is a free event for the public however swimmers need to register online and pay the applicable registration fee. Online registrations are usually available from October.

The annual Celebration of Mount Barker Wildflowers is back again and will be held at the scenic botanical gardens of Banksia Farm. National Cerebral Palsy Awareness Week (CP Week) is celebrated annually to recognise the achievements of people with cerebral palsy and to create greater awareness, understanding and acceptance.

Through CP Week, member organisations work to make the community more inclusive, more accessible and more welcoming for people living with cerebral palsy.

Support is seen throughout the week through activities, programs and initiatives.

The important message for the community is to focus on seeing people with cerebral palsy firstly just as people, and to work together to achieve full social inclusion.

In 2010 the Quad Squad started their extraordinary journey, travelling 57000 kilometres on quad bikes through Europe, Africa and Australia to raise AUD100,000 for Oxfam Australia's African development program work - food, water, sanitation, education, agriculture, livestock and HIV/AIDS.

Bring friends and family for this event to enjoy a sausage sizzle (vegetarian options provided), some lawn bowls, groovy jazz, a fundraising raffle, and hear from the Quad Squad about their journey and their visit to Oxfam's programs in Southern Africa.

Crab Fest celebrates Mandurah’s waterways, lifestyle, entertainment and fine food and wine. Chasing the Lollyman is a one man show devised and performed by one of Queensland's most dynamic and funny Indigenous performers, Mark Sheppard. It’s a joyous sharing of stories, a celebration of urban Indigenous identity and takes a satirical look at the media and popular culture. Playing a variety of characters, weaving stand up with storytelling and clown, Mark pokes fun at everything from Neighbours to politics.

The title 'Chasing the Lolly Man' refers to a game that Mark used to play with his wider community up in Mareeba when he was growing up. They would all gather 'round the night before the local picnic and sew lollies onto a hessian sack. The following day, the 'Lolly Man' would arrive wearing the sack, all the kids would chase after him and at the end they would all get a lolly bag.

The Chasing the Sun Golf Festival commences with a week of fun, sightseeing and golf as you drive along one of Australia’s great roads, The Eyre Highway. It all starts with a champagne breakfast on the foreshore at Ceduna, to watch the sun rise. During the eight day festival you will play at Nullarbor Links the world’s longest golf course. Attempt a AUD10,000 hole in one at Madura and witness an indigenous dance display in Norseman. Finally on Saturday, 6 October 2012, watch the sun set at Kalgoorlie’s magnificent new golf course.

Chevron City to Surf for Activ is the largest community sporting event in Western Australia incorporating the marathon, half marathon, 12 kilometre Run/Walk, four kilometre Run/Walk/Wheelchair. The course takes participants on a journey from the City of Perth to City Beach. Boasting Western Australia’s largest field and Australia’s richest prize pool, the City to Surf Marathon takes in some of Perth’s most beautiful sights. Starting from the city centre, runners travel along the Swan River banks before entering Kings Park and finishing at City Beach on the beautiful Indian Ocean.

The Wildflower Festival is an excellent opportunity to closely see and photograph up to 200 named individual specimens. The festival also offers local art and crafts, wildflower books, cut local wildflowers and souvenirs for sale. Local citrus and other produce is also available over the four festival days.

An artist in residence is a feature of the festival, photographs from the Photographic competition on display, and the Chittering Wildlife Carers present a display in their marquee.

The Cue Outback Triathlon is a sporting event made up of an 800 metre swim in a 52 metre deep gold mining pit, a 25 kilometre off-road bike ride and a six kilometre run through the bush.

Competitors can take on the outback challenge individually or in a team. The event is followed by an awards ceremony and the Outback Bash, which features a dinner and live entertainment.

Western Australia's Ferguson Valley comes alive in Spring as the Dardanup Bull and Barrel Festival showcases the region's scenic attractions. Jeff Kealley was born in Western Australia and has been fortunate to travel to many areas of Australia including the Desert Regions and the magnificent Kimberley.

Inspired by the colours and formations of this vast and varied country, he prefers to paint in oils from sketches and photos of the landscapes and characters he encounters.

This solo exhibition is titled ‘Diggers to the Desert’ and features works from Diggers Rest Station west of Wyndham, through the Kununurra area and on to Ayers Rock in Central Australia Artwork for sale.

Dinosaur Petting Zoo is an experiential theatre performance which features a cast of large-scale Australian dinosaur puppets brought to life by sophisticated design, electronics and theatrical presentation.

These amazingly life-like dinosaur recreations are developed in consultation with palaeontologists, based on current science and specialist interpretations of dinosaur fossil evidence. Erth’s dinosaur puppets stimulate the imagination about dinosaur life in a way that connects children to the real science of palaeontology.
