Wodonga s annual Carnivale is going to SPICE things up everything from Salsa to Samba, to Bollywood and Brazilian. The street festival will feature two music stages and an interactive performance stage. With impromptu performances, stilt walkers and circus acts, teamed with fine food and art for all ages.



Carnivale Wodonga began in 2006 with Jonkunuu Jamaican festival in conjunction with the Commonwealth Games. In 2007, Carnivale Wodonga was HOT and in 2008 Carnivale Wodonga went WILD. In 2009, Carnivale Wodonga embraced all that is BIZARRE, delivering a spectacular event to an audience of up to 24,000. In 2010 Carnivale Wodonga is going to SPICE it up.

Todos Arte: Community and school workshops for two weeks to create the sculptures, decorations and costumes for the festival as well as the making of musical instruments that culminate in a spicy saunter down High Street at the Carnivale Festival.

In 1990, a group of Chrysler car enthusiasts in the Albury (NSW) and Wodonga (VIC) area joined together to form the Albury Wodonga Chrysler Car Club. The AWCC is a social club dedicated to Chrysler produced vehicles of Australia and American design of any era. Soon after, we held our inaugural car show, "Chryslers on the Murray".


A one day Show 'n' Shine with 60 Chrysler vehicles in attendance on the bank of the Murray River at Hovell Tree Reserve in Albury, NSW. In the following years the Show "n" Shine was expanded to a two day event and included a number of drives or "Runs" to the local tourist attractions and wineries. A swap meet was added to the show in 1995 and has been successful in attracting specialist Chrysler vendors from across Australia.



Entrants and enthusiasts alike now travel to Albury in the hope of finding that elusive part. "Chryslers on the Murray" has grown continually over the last 15 years by being professionally run, even though all work is carried out by volunteers.


Costs are kept to a minimal amount through sponsorship and subsidies from the Albury Wodonga Chrysler Club. In 2008 over 550 entrants made the trek to the Albury Wodonga area to celebrate the Chrysler breed, making it the largest Chrysler show in the southern hemisphere. A mighty effort considering our club is the smallest Chrysler Club in Australia.


Albury Wodonga is located on the Victorian/NSW border, and is approximately 600 kilometres south of Sydney, NSW and 300 kilometres north of Melbourne, Victoria. The Murray River is Australia's longest river.

The picturesque surrounds of Cohuna, Gunbower Island State Forest and the Gunbower Creek provide a fantastic platform for this event. Trophies for all winners and a cash prize for the 8 kilometre swim. Registration is encouraged prior to the event. Entries on the day incur a late fee of approximately $5.00.

The Craftalive shows feature the unique combination of finished craft products, craft supplies and woodworking to customers throughout regional NSW and Victoria.



Our craft shows are the largest and most diverse craft show regionally. All craftalive shows are held at indoor venues. Arts & craft people may apply but their participation will be at the discretion of the organizers.

Echuca Cup Day features the Deniliquin RSL Echuca Cup. This is a great day out for the whole family, featuring a live band, Fashions on the Field, free childrens' activities and a great local Food and Wine Enclosure. We look forward to seeing you there on the 7th of March.

A major tennis tournament attracting over 1,200 players and played over four days. The tournament is played on 23 grass courts, four plexipave courts together with 29 extra courts on the adjoining grassed oval. Event caters for all standards of players.

The Echuca Moama Celtic Festival has been designed to provide an opportunity for locals and visitors to enjoy a feast of Celtic music and dance in a variety of venues. The Australian Welsh Male Choir will perform at the Paramount Theatre on Sunday afternoon 7 March 2010.



The event this year will have a strong Scottish theme as well as other Celtic traditions. The activities will include a Gathering of the Clans Dinner, music and cultural workshops, as well as a Twilight Concert, and music by top Celtic bands in clubs, hotels and restaurants. A street parade is being organised for Saturday morning and there will be an open Celtic Worship Service on Sunday morning.

The 24th Annual Mildura Country Music Festival is Australia's biggest showcase of independent country music entertainers. In 2009, more than 100 individual artists and groups entertained 12,000 fans from all across Australia during the ten day festival. The 2010 festival promises to continue country music heaven in spring in Mildura. The venues, 20 in all, spread from the Mildura City Mall, Country on the Darling and Henderson Park providing all day entertainment , Mildura City venues to outlying locations like Wentworth, Coomealla, Irymple, Merbein, Red Cliffs, Buronga and Gol Gol. The diamond in the crown for the past thirteen years has been the live concert and radio presentation of The Southern Stars, The Australian Independent Country Music Awards that recognise the achievements of the independent recording artists during the past year. Entry is free to all venues except the Southern Stars the Australian Independent Country Music Awards and the Top of the State Talent Quest.

This is the big one for Mildura. The Mildura cup is establishing itself as a country cup well worth winning and one that is attracting top quality horses/trainers and jockeys. This can be seen by the city class gallopers De Mars, Produced and Stanzout filling the placings in an exciting finish to the 2009 Cup.

The Gold Cup Marquee is the place to be with its popularity growing each year. One big marquee that can suit any numbers. All inclusive, the marquee is in a prime trackside location. The biggest growth area on cup day is the Fashions on the Field. In 2009 crowds were many a row deep to check out the talent. Hosted by Milliner to the stars Kerri Stanley and over AUD3,000 worth of prizes this event really did make its mark on the carnival.

The Mildura Eisteddfod was initiated in 1979, essentially to encourage and foster the performing arts, particularly in the interests of young people. It is an annual event, a competition in piano, vocal, instrumental, speech and drama, dance and folk. It has grown from a three-day event to a 14 day program.

The Mildura Jazz, Food and Wine Festival is a well established event that has attracted many locals and visitors to the Mildura district over the past twenty nine years. The Festival takes place as an annual Spring-time event, presenting four days of round the clock jazz entertainment in popular clubs, bars and cafes, restaurants, churches, as well as street side and riverside venues - with feature events utilising unique Murray River settings and all events showcasing regional food and wine.


The Festival combines traditional Jazz and Swing with more contemporary and quirky sounds and caters to hardcore jazz enthusiasts and music lovers, not to mention those that just enjoy sitting back to the music, soaking in the ambiance of one of Mildura's paddle steamers, riverside wineries and parks, taking in the gourmet food and locally produced wine. The Festival incorporates ticketed and free events and provides a non-stop program that caters to the tastes of all, attracting a growing number of visitors, as well as local audience members.

The 2011 Mildura Masters Games is a 9 day sporting event for male and female participants aged 25 years and over. Visiting and local participants are invited to enjoy competitive sporting events and social activities woven around the camaraderie and friendship that sport engenders.

The Mildura Writers' Festival brings together some of Australia's best writers in an intimate, winter program of workshops, lectures and discussion forums.



Beginning in 1994 in Stefano de Pieri's cellar restaurant, this event has evolved to be acclaimed to be among the finest literary festivals in the country, not only because of its literary pleasures, but also because of the talent it attracts and its atmosphere of conviviality - building upon the provincial Victorian winter, with late night discussions around wood fires, showcasing the local and regional gourmet food and wine. With such a reputation the Mildura Writers' Festival is able to attract the best Australian writers including Nobel Laureates such as JM Coetze, renowned authors such as David Malouf and Les Murray and international stars such as Clive James.

The Murrabit Country Market is reputedly the largest market in regional Australia. From its small beginnings in 1977, the market has continued to grow. The first Saturday of every month (and Easter Saturday & the third Saturday in December) an astonishing transformation takes place when over 200 stalls open for business. Wares from fresh home grown produce, carefully crafted glass and woodenware, recycled iron, plants, craft, bric-a-brac, hardware and clothing are there to delight the purchaser.


Aromas of freshly cooked barbecues and hot food fill the air and morning tea at the hall, consisting of cappuccinos, scones, sandwiches and sumptuous cakes is not to be missed. Live entertainment adds to the relaxed atmosphere and popular entertainers perform at each of our markets.


After the market enjoy a two minute drive to the Murray River and try some fishing for the much sought after Murray Cod. Or view the Murrabit bridge, the first all steel bridge to be built over the Murray River between Victoria and New South Wales back in 1926.

The Murray River International Music Festival began as an initiative of Stefano de Pieri and Helen Healy and has been running for 6 years. It is a fine music festival presenting world class Australian and International musicians to audiences in unique locations along the Murray River including Mildura.


Each day of the program provides world class performances combined with master-classes, workshops and school visits. The artists perform in a variety of venues ranging from riverside settings to riverboats, wineries to regional arts venues.


The Murray River International Music Festival provides a dynamic program of performances at Mildura, Wentworth, Swan Hill, Echuca, Katunga and Shepparton venues, providing regional food and wine experiences.

The Murray to Moyne Cycle Relay is an event organised specifically to fundraise for health related organisations. A team may register to ride the 520 kilometres from the Murray River (either Mildura, Echuca or Swan Hill) to the Moyne River in Port Fairy but must donate any money raised to a health related organisation of their choice.


This is a 24 hour team relay over a distance of approximately 520 kilometres, starting from the locations of Mildura, Swan Hill and Echuca. You elect where you want to start from and are allocated that start location if places are still available. A maximum of 1650 riders is applied to the event.

Over 200 cyclists from all parts of Australia provide ten hours of thrilling racing, commencing at 12 noon. The feature events of the carnival are the $5,000 Shepparton Wheel race, the Women's Silver Bracelet Wheelrace (both over 2,000 metres), the Women's Victorian 5 kilometres Championship and the Men's Victorian 5 kilometres Championship.

New Years Eve - With plenty of activities for the kids', enjoy a great family day out at the races before working up to the New Year celebrations!


Width of track is 18m up to the 400m. then widens to 33m in the straight. Track dries quickly due to the soil being sand. Turns are wide and well cambered. Track is fully irrigated and races well throughout the year.

Corryong offers some of the best Paragliding conditions in Australia with spectacular views of Australia's Main Range. The Ozone Corryong Open is a high level competition to test both the best Australian pilots and pilots from all around the World. This is an International event and not to be missed! The event headquarters will be at the Corryong Hotel (known by Corryong locals as the Bottom Pub)

Experience the fun of a bygone era over two magical days, showcasing the change in transport over the last 100 years with steam engines, horse-drawn carriages, paddle steamers, vintage cars and tractors on display.


With family entertainment on both Saturday and Sunday from 10 am to 4 pm, there is something for everyone with street theatre, activities for the children including face painting, pony rides, a magician, old-fashioned street games and much, much more. Entertainment will continue through to Saturday evening from 6 pm, where the world's largest fleet of paddle steamers will steam the river together in a magnificent display of toots and whistles along the mighty Murray River. This will be followed by a grand finale of spectacular fireworks viewable from Echuca Wharf.

The Red Cliffs Country market is held the 1st Sunday of every month from 9am -1pm under the shop verandahs of Indi Ave & Ilex Street, Red Cliffs.



The 100+ stalls also spill out into the luscious green area of Barclay Square; offering a relaxing and spacious area to enjoy local food and entertainment.

Highlights for the coming year will include an exclusive performance by Ryan Meeking and the Few accompanied by the GV Concert Orchestra, Jazz at the Orchard with Yvette Johansson and The Syncopators, Little Big Shots Film Festival for Kids and Kate Vigo and the Underground Orchestra at the Connection. A further exciting addition for 2010 will be Balloons Over the Valley, giving you the opportunity to see the Goulburn valley from the skies!


The favourites will return with the Twilight Festival featuring performances from Sol Nation, Bianca Fenn and The September Knights and the sensational Bossa Negra Brazilian group as well the Inspired Earth community performance. The Multicultural Village will add to the excitement giving you the chance to take part in the festival with interactive stalls of cultural arts, crafts, foods and wines.

One-day multisport race (mountain bike 38 kilometres, paddle 26 kilometres, run 25 kilometres) set in the heart of Australia's most spectacular alpine scenery. Spring Migration is a Gay & Lesbian Festival for ALL!

Enjoy Saturdays at St Leonards Vineyard on the banks of the Murray River with entrtainment including Kate Meehan and Skip Landy on the 5th December, BLAZE - Paul Gibbs and Sharyn Bilson on the 26th December, Common Soul on the 2nd January 2010 and Maurice Milani on the 9th January.


Food will be served from the St Leonards Cafe open from 11.30am - 3pm including light summer lunch and grazing platters (childrens menu also available). Free kids entertainment including art and craft, giant yard games and boules!


Cellar door will be open from 10am - 5pm and will provide tastings and sales all day. Beer also available.

The Swan Hill Australia Day Breakfast is this year celebrating its 30th anniversary. The Australia Day Breakfast includes a barbeque breakfast, music, entertainment, awards, flag raising, balloon release and flypast for all to enjoy.


The celebrations, which have been coordinated by Swan Hill Rural City Council and the Australia Day Committee, will get underway at 6.30am on Tuesday, 26 January on the banks of the Murray River at Swan Hill s Riverside Park.


Locals and visitors alike are encouraged to come down and enjoy a cooked breakfast and be entertained by some fantastic performances.

The Swan Hill Eisteddfod comprises competitions of dance, music, vocal, drama and debating over eight days. Performances are assessed by professional adjudicators. Entrants can range in age from seven to seventy and they come from a wide geographical area including Bendigo, Mildura, Echuca and districts far into the Mallee, NSW and South Australia.

Day 1 of the June Racing carnival sees the running of the Vernons Golden Topaz stakes. This premier country sprint worth AUD75,000 in 2009 sees a top field of sprinters fighting out the finish for the Golden Topaz.



The other feature is the Elvstroem Classic. A race for 2yos, in honour of both Elvstroem and Haradasun who both started their careers in winning style at Swan Hill over past years during the June racing carnival. The race worth AUD30,000 is sure to see the career kick off of future champions in years to come.

Day 2 and the middle day of the carnival is a chance for the whole family to come and enjoy the Murray Downs Golf & Country Club Swan Hill June Racing carnival. An action packed day is guaranteed with not only exciting racing action but also the kids kept entertained with a jumping castle, face painting and special guests.

A Taste of Tatura Festival is a celebration of food, wine and music held in the heart of Tatura. Visitors have the opportunity to sample a delectable range of foods and enjoy the best regional wines in a serene atmosphere accompanied by the sounds of live music.

The Tatura Shepparton Cup day includes Fashions on the Field, live music and children's entertainment. Racing has been a popular pastime in the region since the arrival of settlers. Races were run in several locations under the banner of the Tatura Turf Club before the site in Ross Street was made available in 1881.

The Green Living Fair will showcase ways of living sustainably - on the land, in your home and with our food - including demonstrations on how individuals can make a difference. This free community event will host over 20 exhibitors, including Landcare, local organic producers, alternative building methods, green energies, an information booth and free children's activities with a focus on the environment and recycling.



The Fair will be held at Valhalla Wines, Wahgunyah - a straw-bale built winery using green power, worm-composting toilets and recycled waste water.

The Snowy Mountains explode with 4 days of action packed entertainment and festivities to celebrate the legend of Banjo Paterson's poem 'Man from Snowy River'!

The Man from Snowy River Challenge is the showcase event to find the modern Man from Snowy River. You ll be amazed at the horsemanship and skill of today s Australian Stockman. All will be on display as these horsemen compete in a series of events set to challenge the most skilled of professional riders and horses. When it comes to the test of good, all round horsemanship, The SolarCo Challenge , is second to none.



Australia Post Re Enactment

Witness and experience, first hand the chase and the thrill of this unique part of our heritage, with a real life version of the Man from Snowy River poem in this authentic re-enactment.

An Australian Bush Festival isn t complete without good old bush poetry, and in celebration of the king of Australian Bush Poetry, the Man from Snowy River Festival boasts the country s best bush poets, singers, musicians and entertainers.



WAW Art & Photography

An inspiring display with some of the country s best artists and photographers having their work on display as the WAW Art and Photography Competition offers a chance for artists to express their talents by depicting the Australian Bush Culture.

Towong is the Upper Murray's most picturesque course with 100 year old Elm trees creating shade along with the surrounding rolling hills to create the atmosphere of this major social function for the district. If you are very still you may hear the ghosts of the 123 past winning connections still celebrating in the bar or grandstand. See you at Towong in March.

This iconic event is a 404km, five day flat-water race along the mighty Murray River - bordering Victoria and New South Wales, Australia. The race starts in Yarrawonga on the 27th December and heads downstream through Tocumwal, Picnic Point, Torrumbarry, Cohuna and Murrambit before finishing in Swan Hill on New Years' Eve.

The Victorian Country Tennis Association Country Week is held annually in the second week in February. Teams consist of four men or four women round robin teams. Grade A, Special B, B and C. Swan Hill Lawn Tennis Centre will be hosting the event in 2010.

THE WILLOWFEST AUSTALIAN CRICKET CLUB CHAMPIONSHIPS is an annual event held in the beautiful rural city of Mildura nestled on the banks of the majestic Murray River, in north west Victoria.


The Championships which have been running for over 32 years, are conducted between the 27th and 30th December. Cricket teams from all over Australia come to the vibrant holiday mecca of Mildura to enjoy the summer weather, play cricket on first class facilities and vie for the largest prizemoney purse offered for a Carnival of this type in Australia.


Cricket Clubs will be competing for over $10,000.00 of prizemoney.


With all the attractions of Mildura and this amount of prizemoney, the Willowfest Australian Cricket Championships is establishing its niche on the cricket calendar.

The Mildura Willowfest Australian Cricket Club Championships is an annual cricket carnival hosted in Mildura between 27- 30 December. Cricket teams including Ladies, from around the country vie for the largest prize money of any carnival of this type in Australia. AUD10,000 prize money is on offer across the three grades of competition. One of the highlights of Willowfest is the renowned 'Willowfest Whack' (as seen on Channel 9's Cricket Show). The competition goes in search of the biggest whacker of a cricket ball in the country. A three person team consisting of batter, tosser and catcher are required to compete in the 'Whack'. Each batter is given 3 attempts in the preliminary round with the three longest 'Whackers' then squaring off in the final. In addition to four fantastic days of cricket, a host of other sporting and social events make Willowfest a fun week for officials, players and their families. Many teams bring up to 25 persons (plus their families) to ensure they enjoy cricket and a family holiday.

Yackandandah Folk Festival is held in a small, picturesque, historic, town in North-East Victoria.
