The Airport Market and Car Boot is one of the biggest antique / bric-a-brac and craft markets on the coast. There is homemade food available for morning, afternoon teas and light luncheons. The market is held on the third Sunday of every month, except in October if it coincides with the Tulip festival the market will be on Friday and Saturday. Come along and be a part of one of Tasmania's favourites markets.

This traditional New Years Day Carnival has been running for 114 years and features the "Burnie Gift" which attracts national and international competitors. The Burnie Gift is arguably the most sought after blue-ribbon 120 metre running event in Australia. Burnie's running programme also includes 200 metres, 400 metres and 1600 metres handicaps.

The Rhododendron Garden begins a new season Stimulate your senses with the vibrant colours and aromas of the Emu Valley Rhododendron Garden. Emu Valley Rhododendron Garden has been developed on a 13 hectare natural amphitheatre. It includes some 22,000 select rhododendrons and companion plants in a unique landscape concept. A series of walks provide extensive opportunities to enjoy the plants, wildlife and tranquillity of this unique environment. Platypus, echidna, and diverse bird life, are routinely sighted by visitors to the garden. Other landscape features include gazebos, bridges, waterways, and a fountain. A tearoom opens every day during the peak flowering season of October and November and on Thursdays, Saturdays and Sundays during other opening months. Weekend openings are arranged during autumn to view the brilliant autumn colour from deciduous trees, as well as vireya rhododendrons.
