Tasmania's premier youth portraiture award is the result of a highly successful partnership between RACT Insurance, Clemenger Tasmania, Geon and Tasmanian Regional Arts.
The objective of the award is to foster the evelopment of young Tasmanian artists and provide an opportunity for the public to appreciate the talents of Tasmanian youth.

The Blake Prize is the oldest national prize in Australia dedicated to spirituality, religion and cultural diversity. The Blake Prize reflects the multi-cultural nature of Australian society with works of art expressive of diverse religious faiths and others reflecting the spirituality of indigenous peoples.
Established in 1951, the Blake Prize is the oldest national art prize dedicated to spirituality, religion and cultural diversity. The theme and enduring nature of the Blake Prize has made it as well known to Australians as the Archibald Prize for portraiture. It is also a benchmark for artistic professional development, exposing the works of living contemporary artists to thousands of art lovers and collectors. The touring exhibition, which contains paintings, prints, drawings and new media works, is renowned for providing an opportunity for artists to be a catalyst for social debate.
Clarence City Council is for the first time presenting the Blake Prize across both the Rosny Barn and Schoolhouse Gallery.
There will also feature a range of satellite events including the launch of The Blake Book by Rosemary Crumlin, an Artist’s Forum on art and spirituality, a free bus tour exploring Pugin Architecture in surrounding churches and a floor talk on Blake and his mysticism.
The Blake prize for religious art is presented by the Blake Society and Clarence City council.

A Cappella Lounge is a monthly event which provides a cappella singers with a relaxed and supportive performance environment, and provides audiences with an eclectic and enjoyable line-up showcasing some fantastic performers from Hobart's a cappella singing community. You might see new soloists and groups performing for the first time, or more experienced performers singing their favourite songs or trying out some new material.

A great way to spend a day, this event needs to be experienced, with everything for the farm and the home from machinery to jewellery.
Agfest, Tasmania's premier agricultural event, has the second highest attendance of all agricultural field days in Australia.
Agfest has grown from a small field day at a racetrack with 100 exhibitors in May 1983 to become one of the State's most popular multi-million dollar exhibitions with almost 80,000 patrons passing through the gates over the three days.
Agfest features over 700 exhibitors and has something for everyone. Attractions include agricultural machinery, banking and finance, machinery, hardware and small equipment, leisure, automotive, clothing and home wares, food, horticulture and viticulture and livestock.
There are working displays of Tasmania's pioneering agricultural industry including working blacksmiths, draught horse displays and free rides, a selection of vintage machinery from the wool and timber industries, and steam engines and tractors.

Come to this charming market where you will find stalls located throughout the beautiful gardens and in the church hall. There are stalls of all sorts ranging from home baked goodies to hand-made crafts, second hand goods to re-purposed items and more.
The Jesse Tree, All Saints parish shop, is also open during the market.

AMERICA are touring Australia in September 2012 presented by Lennard Promotions. Founding members Gerry Beckley and Dewey Bunnell became global household name and paved the way with an impressive string of hits such as "Ventura Highway", "Tin Man", "Daisy Jane", "I Need You", "Lonely People" and "Sister Golden Hair".
Their recording success stretched throughout the 1970's with the legendary George Martin producing seven of their Albums. 42 years later, these friends are still making music together, touring the world and thrilling audiences with their timeless sound.

This event is designed to showcase some of the best of visual, creative and performing arts across the Northwest of Tasmania.
New and established artists from all genres are welcome.
Sales are encouraged, but the emphasis is to provide an opportunity for artists to display and present their work and to network with others.
Makers and attending artists are encouraged and welcomed, and may be given preference over unattended displays where space is limited.
Supported by a varied backdrop of Music and Vocal performing arts.

Part of the Henley on the Mersey festival at Bells Parade Latrobe. The event will consist of a race for kids aged between 7 and 10 years and a race for kids aged 11-13 years.The events will also be a selection race for the Tasmanian Junior Triathlon team and will consist of an event for competitors aged 14 years and above.
The triathlon will consist of a swim, ride and run of varying lengths appropriate to the age of competitors. Registration for the event will be at Bells Parade and opens at 9.30am sharp.
The first kids race will commence at 10.15am and be followed by the 2nd kids race, with the Open race starting at 11.00am. The event is Race 2 of the Tasmanian Triathlon Series.

Avenue Q is a musical in two acts, conceived by Robert Lopez and Jeff Marx, who wrote the music and lyrics. The book was written by Jeff Whitty.

Annual outdoor sculpture prize giving Tasmanian artists the ability to exhibit and sell their work.
This sculpture prize is displayed in an outdoor gallery set over 1.5km trail. The track winds through picturesque farm and native bush land with the majestic backdrop of D’entrecasteaux Channel and Mt Wellington.

A traditional country show with Tasmanian title wood chopping, hall of industry, yard dog trials, horse events, rides, ringside entertainment, draft horses, merry go round, produce for sale, craft, cooking, photography and art displays, wool displays and competition, giant pumpkin competition, working bullock teams, lolly scramble, theatre performances, and vintage machinery displays.
Bream Creek is nestled below the Ragged Tier fifty kilometers to the east of Hobart with views out over Marion Bay to Maria Island and the Tasman Peninsula. The local community is made up of farming, small industry, artisans and professionals with the closest shop a general store at Copping just three kilometers away.
Dairying, winegrowing, wool and fisheries comprise the main farming activity in the district, the good soil and high rainfall providing the lush carpet of green pasture and tree canopy which can be seen over the hills for miles around.
Bream Creek after which the area is named rises in the Weilangta Forest to the north and flows out into the ocean at Marion Bay with its sandy beach reaching in either direction as far as the eye can see.
Many of today’s Bream Creek residents are descendants of the original settlers in the district and are part of the strength that holds the community together and continues the tradition that has become the successful Bream Creek Show.

One of the oldest local shows, the Brighton Agricultural Show still retains its classic country feel.
We cater for man animals with various competitions including beef cattle and cattle handlers, stud sheep and trade lambs, fleece, hall of industries, photography, wood chopping, dog competition, dog high jump and championship, pet parade, pigeons and poultry.
We also have a large baby quest through to show ambassador, with great prizes being awarded.

A three day festival for bird watching enthusiasts on picturesque and flora and fauna rich Bruny Island.
The festival will be opened with a BBQ, carvery dinner and live music.
The highlight of the festival for bird enthusiasts are a range of bird watching tours around the island with expert guides and the rarely available boat trips to Pedra Branca, an offshore rock stack and major sea bird breeding area, and flights direct from Bruny Island to Melaleuca in the SW World Heritage Area, to see Orange-bellied Parrots.
The festival also includes walks and tours, information sessions and opportunities to hear well known wildlife specialists speak and to chat with them about your own insights.
Stunning images and artworks will be exhibited all weekend. There is a a market day, children’s activities.

Part of the Tasmanian Sports Carnivals Christmas series, the Burnie Carnival incorporates running, cycling and wood-chopping.
The Burnie Gift is the crown of the carnival. The Burnie Gift is the most sought-after blue ribbon 120 metre running event in Tasmania and arguably the most sought after blue-ribbon 120 m running event in Australia.
The Burnie Gift honour board is adorned with many great Australian Athletics names, and winning this race would mark your mark in athletics history.
Burnie's running programme also includes 200m, 400m and 1600m handicaps.

Hobart will host the start of the 2011 Caterpillar Underground Mining Tour of Tasmania with a fiercely-tough innovative 18km teams time trial up Mt. Wellington.
Teams of up to eight riders each will take off at two-minute intervals in a race against the clock from the Cascade Brewery in Strickland Avenue and climb 1271 metres before finishing at The Pinnacle lookout.
Earlier, the anticipated 130-strong field will kick-off the six-day tour in colorful style with a 5km parade, under police control, from the Wrest Point Casino in Sandy Bay Road to the brewery.
The 543km tour, now in its seventh year in its current format, will be raced in 10 stages.
The Tour of Tasmania is fast developing a reputation as a breeding ground for future stars, with Cameron Meyer, Ritchie Porte, Bernard Sulzberger, former British road champion Kristian House and New Zealand's Commonwealth Games bronze medallist Gordon McCauley among the winners.
The tour is the final round of the four-race Scody Cup, Australia's premier domestic road cycling series.

With the first show held in 1889, The Chudleigh Show is one of Tasmania's oldest shows. An annual event creating a great family day and showing the best of what the local area has to offer.
Expect to see poultry, cattle, sheep, horses and dairy heifers and sheep dogs as they show and compete for "best of show". Wander through displays of utes and vintage tractors and be entertained by the trick horse display.
The woodchopping event will represent the serious sporting side of the Show and the not so serious, but steeped in tradition, the Chudleigh Cup will run again. There are no real horses in the Chudleigh Cup but there are lots of people dressed up as horses and doing a lot of horsing around.

The Circular Head traditional country show.
The Circular Head Agricultural Show is held annually in December. The Show features an animal nursery, cattle judging, show jumping, wood chopping, a dog show and judging, entertainment for children and, for older folk, hair-raising rides.
Prizes are also awarded for flower and produce displays, along with arts and crafts.
The Show is very popular and attracts visitors from Circular Head and surrounding areas.

The Barn, Schoolhouse Gallery and Cottage Museum are set in the landscaped grounds of the Rosny Farm. Rosny Farm is a unique cultural centre in the City of Clarence. The site has important historical roots as a fine example of an early walled farmyard containing a beautiful heritage listed sandstone barn and farm cottage. The historic Barn at the Rosny Farm underwent a program of redevelopment in 2006 transforming it into an exciting new visual and performing arts space. The Barn now plays host to recitals, concerts, exhibitions, lectures and workshops. The Barn redevelopment was made possible through the generosity of the Tasmanian Community Fund and the YMCA in partnership with Clarence City Council.

The exhibition expresses our local artist’s emotion in the way they depict what they see as their “coastal connection” and is a representative example of the quality of the artistic talent that exists today in our community.. Loosely based on the German fairy tale with a similar name, Crapunzel promises to be laugh-a-minute dialogue delivered by Tasmania's who's who in the media and theatre complemented by beautiful dancers and silly songs. Similarities to the original story are not sufficient enough for the creators to change their names to The Brothers Grin but if previous Bawdy Panto's audience reactions are anything to go on, a great, fun-filled night out is guaranteed. Lead by the ever-vivacious lead vocalist, Fiona Horne, and original bass player Martyn Basha, the band is set to rock audiences when they take the stage for their first shows in 15 years.
Formed in Sydney in 1990, DEF FX carved out a unique place in Australian music both sonically and iconically. At the core of the bands success and their critical and public attention was their inimitable blend of electronic beats and samples, rock/metal instrumentation and grunge vocals, which saw them draw comparisons with artists as disparate as Pink Floyd, Metallica and The Prodigy. Add to this the charm and charisma of the enchanting Horne and a killer live show, and you have a winning combination that saw DEF FX maintain the intrigue and fascination of audiences well beyond the duration of their recording history. Throughout their career, DEF FX developed the reputation for being one of the hardest working bands in the country. Not surprisingly, they also developed one of the most amazing live shows, with a focal point being the performances of the always-enigmatic Horne. The Devonport Agricultural and Pastoral Spring Show is a great weekend out for the whole family, held in the coastal city of Devonport in late November each year.
The Devonport Spring Show has something for every age group: sideshow alleys, crafts, farming displays, fashion parades, live entertainment, animal displays and judging and much more.
After the Show Devonport is the perfect place to make your base in Tasmania's North-West where you'll discover some of Tasmania's best national parks, food and wine experiences and history and heritage.

The story is set in an industrialised coastal city on the cusp of this change and the response of a couple at the prime of their life – the feisty, irrepressible Barbara and her would-be boyfriend the retiring but stubborn Den. Their lives are further complicated by the arrival of Barbara’s simple daughter Verge, her snobbish sister Marj and Den’s upwardly mobile, brother-in-law Ron.
Given the desperate nature of the characters’ circumstances the play is often dramatic, involving and moving, but this is tempered by a wry, sometimes hilarious and very Australian sense of humour.

Exhibition and sale of miniatures, dollshouses and components with Tasmanian and mainland artists and traders. The main feature of the exhibition will be the Miniature Enthusiasts of Tasmania's miniature department store: Lilliput. The store has 20 departments constructed and assembled by MET members throughout the state. Our art gallery will feature 20 different scenes depicting a variety of occupations, all in 1/12th scale.

The Flinders Island Show is a traditional agricultural and pastoral show, reflecting the Island's traditional rural heritage.
The show includes sheep, cattle and wool displays competing for best of show awards and visitors can watch the sporting events, including equestrian and wood chopping competitions.

Adapted from the 1984 film of the same name, Footloose is the story of a big-city teen who moves to a town that has outlawed dancing.
Uprooted from Boston and reluctantly transplanted to the small Bible belt town of Bomont, Ren McCormack finds himself in a repressed community still reeling from a devastating loss.
Shortly before he arrived in Bomont, five local teens perished in a tragic car accident following a local dance. As a result, the upstanding Reverend Shaw Moore and the local councilmen passed a strict ordinance outlawing both dancing and excessively loud music.
Convinced that the new law is hopelessly misguided, rebellious Ren puts on his dancing shoes and wins the heart of Reverend Moore's distraught daughter, Ariel, while showing his fellow classmates that it's perfectly normal to blow off a little steam with some loud music and good friends.
Launceston College's production of Footloose will be set in the current era, as opposed to their 2004 production which was set in 1984.

The day will also include a prime lamb competition, home industries and animal nursery.

It's a classic. First run in 1972 and now recognised the world over for the true challenge it is.
Beginning on 27 December from Portsea Pier, Melbourne, sailors will again have the choice of tackling either the traditional 440 nautical mile ‘Westcoaster’ or the alternative 460 nautical mile ‘Eastcoaster’ races.
Sailors that choose the Westcoaster plunge down the wonderful West coast of Tasmania where they see the vistas of the coast’s World Heritage listed beaches and wilderness. They then “surf on” past Maatsuyker Island before they begin their run in towards Hobart.
As the Eastcoaster runs across Bass Strait and south Past St Helens and Triabunna it offers its own unique set of challenges for skippers, naviguessers and crew, with currents, winds andland effects just some of the things to watch for.
Around 30 yachts are expected to race in both the ‘Westcoaster’ and ‘Eastcoaster’ races, bringing to nearly 200 the number of interstate and international yachts racing to Hobart this summer.
The races will be run at the same time as the Sydney to Hobart and Launceston to Hobart events, and will share a common finish line at Battery Point’s Castray Esplanade.

A major feature of our program are the annual ferret races; this involves the ferrets being placed in one end of a long pipe that traverses up and down and around hay bales, with the first ferret to fully emerge from the pipe at the other end being the winner.
There are quite some anxious moments when the ferret starts to emerge, the crowd roars with delight and the ferret promptly retreats back into the pipe. There are also the delightful ferret fashion parade and ferret ‘chocolate wheel’ in which visitors and participants can win great prizes.
A major feature of this year’s program is the Bell’s Parade Triathlon conducted by the Triathletes Tasmania as part of their state program and of course the Axeman's Carnival which has been run since 1913 will be held throughout the day.
On the water activities include, Aqua Roller races, Betta Milk Raft Boat Race, Wooden Boat and Dragons Abreast sail pasts and, remote control yachts and speedboats.
There will also be plenty of food and wine featuring the best of Tasmanian produce as well as traditional festival snakes like fairy floss, burgers, hot roast rolls and saveloys . Perhaps you can pick a bargain from the many stallholders selling their
wares.

The programme of judging and sporting events will include horse ring events for hacks, galloways, leading rein, large and small ponies as well as livestock judging, heavy horse judging, ute muster, woodchopping, show jumping and dog high jumping.
The children will be entertained by the puppet shows and games at the Children's marquee. And of course the whole family can take a look at the animals and machinery in the Grand Parade.

Secret, un-noticed little places abound in and around buildings - waiting to be discovered. The outside world of everyday city street activity beckons to be newly experienced. This exhibition/installation represents an exploration of possibilities inherent in a concentrated study of a particular place.
A collaborative exhibition, in/out/in/between by Christl Berg and Irene Briant, explores the gallery space in a site-specific manner.
Working collaboratively is a new experience for both artists. It means not only testing individual but having them sieved through the reasoning and sensibilities of the other artist.
Christl’s contribution takes the form of a series of 2D photographic images inspired by the space and its relationship to the outside streetscape.
Whereas, Irene investigates the crevices and creases in the building fabric to produce a series small scale cast sculptures.

The Band:
Uisce reatha (pronounced Isshker raah) means "Running Water" in Gaelic. Brian likes to think this is what Irish dance music is about - the steps are endless, the music seamless.
Champion Irish flute player Brian Owens brings together some of Tasmania's best Irish musicians, who Brian says play equally as well. Brian, Heath Richardson, Peter Grubb, Mick Lynch, Billy Moore and Roy Newman bring you traditional Irish dance music guaranteed to have you dance your socks off.
Uisce Reatha has played at Hobart's Fleadh Ceol festival of Irish culture, the Cygnet Folk Festival and the bicentenary of Macquarie's visit to New Norfolk.
They are joined by Tasmanian dance caller David Wanless who will call the dances so you don't need to know any of them or have any dancing experience beforehand.
Lively dance demonstrations, Ceilidh and set dances taught.
No dancing experience or partner required. All ages welcome.
