At Ardrossan Carols by The Sea it doesn't matter if you're a local resident or a visitor to the beautiful Yorke Peninsula, there’s no better way to start the Christmas season than with some carols. You can enjoy an evening of them in the cliff top setting, just a short walk from the town and the local caravan parks.

A variety of groups, musicians and soloists will be presenting a wide range of numbers.

A sausage sizzle will be on hand to put you in good voice for the concert. The venue has car parking for the less able and for the more active we suggest a blanket and chairs. Should the weather look inclement, we’ve booked the nearby town hall as a standby.

We have also been informed that Santa will be dropping in to see the children.

If you are in the beautiful Yorke Peninsula on Christmas Eve, make a point of heading to the Ardrossan Christmas Eve Party at the Town Oval, where you will be able to see the parade of floats and classic cars entering for the town's Christmas Eve Party.

A change of venue and format for this year will provide a secure and grassed off street area for people of all ages. A wide range of catering will be provided by the various sporting clubs, along with some musical talent. For the kids there will be fancy dress, the hurdy gurdy and Santa Claus distributing gifts.

Take the opportunity to meet up with friends, old and new at this annual favourite.

The annual Coobowie Craft Show will be held in the Coobowie Community Hall. A wide variety of crafts are presented including home-made preserves and other edible goodies, lavender, potpourri and herbal products and gifts. Also children’s and adult’s clothing, machine embroidered items, hand-made cards and gifts, small paintings and cards by the Late Bronte Allen, wood burning, wooden crafts and toys, jewellery, crystal products and Tarot readings, and unusual crafty gifts.

The show donates to the Women’s and Children’s Hospital, The Make a Wish Foundation and the Fauna Haven Animal rescue. Proceeds from a raffle are included in the donations.

The 2009 Copper Coast New Years Eve Fireworks Spectacular will be a “Family Fun Event”. Our evening will provide ‘free’ family entertainment comprising sideshows, food stalls, family fun activities and concluding with a fantastic fireworks display at The Breakwater at midnight to welcome in the New Year at Wallaroo.

Curramulka is a small farming community that comes alive on the first Saturday of December each year. The 2010 event will be held on Saturday 4 December with the official turning on of the Christmas lights. It commences at 5.30 pm with a parade from the park opposite the Hotel finishing at the Town Oval. Any-one is welcome to participate. Just join in on the night.

The oval activities commence at 6pm. Sit and relax on the oval listening to the Maitland Area School Band, while the children visit Father Christmas in The Curry Cave for a small fee, having their face painted or having fun playing old fashioned games like egg and spoon races, three legged races, sack race and much, much more.

Various hot food, soft drink, tea, coffee, biscuits, hot donuts, hot chips, barbecue tea, bar facilities and glow products are available to purchase.

Sit down and relax until the turning on the lights at 8.45pm. Walk or drive around the town and see the spectacular light displays.

After Light Up Night the Christmas lights will be on in Curramulka every night until New Years Eve.

The Flaherty’s Beach Sandbar Golf Classic has, over the years, established a reputation that has set it apart from the usual run of golf functions. Organised to a tee, with great prizes and exciting and fun entertainment.

Held biennially at Ardrossan over the Easter long weekend, the Art Exhibition brings together and amazing array of works from local artists and from other South Australian and interstate artists.

Categories include open, best painting of a recognizable Yorke Peninsula theme, best painting by a Yorke Peninsula resident, Indigenous, Yorke Peninsula school and People's Choice.

Well-known artists such as Allyson Parsons, Marie Parsons, Tom O'Callaghan and Bruce Davey have traditionally supported this exhibition.

2010 will be the sixth biennial Art Exhibition hosted by the District Council of Yorke Peninsula.

Kernewek Lowender – Copper Coast Cornish Festival is held in the historic copper mining towns of Kadina, Moonta and Wallaroo on the Yorke Peninsula. Established in 1973 from an idea of the late Don Dunstan, then Premier of South Australia, the Kernewek Lowender has grown to become the World's Largest Cornish Festival. The Festival is held over seven days with the highlight being ‘The Big Weekend’ which comprises of three large Fairs, the Village Green Fair Fer Kernewek and the Classic Cavalcade of Cars.

The festival is packed with a variety of traditional Cornish activities and other festival like events. The Annual Make-A-Wish Family Fun Beach Day is on again. The Yorke Peninsula Branch of Make-A-Wish invites you to South Beach Port Hughes for a day of good old fashioned family fun and entertainment. Events include sand castle competitions, treasure hunt, sack races and beach sprints. The Challenge Cup provides an opportunity for you to get your family and friends together and form a team to compete in novelty events including an obstacle course and tug-o-war among many others. Fantastic prizes will be awarded throughout the day; including a prize for best dressed team.There will be jet-ski rides and kayak hire, kite flying, live band Unfinished Project, food and market stalls and amusements. The Moonta Open Garden Festival has been a popular event for a number of years. It's your chance to see more approximately 12 beautiful open gardens on Yorke Peninsula. After the good rains, many gardens will be at their best in October.

See how people have adapted their gardens to cope with recent dry spells, including succulents and natives, in their plantings. Enjoy a relaxing weekend visiting the gardens, some of which will have interesting added attractions such as afternoon teas, a coffee barn and gelataria as well as trading tables with plants and produce for sale.

I Pagliacci is one of the world’s most popular operas. This production is set on location – the Moonta Mines Museum - rather than in a theatre so the drama can unfold as if you have travelled back in time 100 years and are seeing it for real. Visually this production will be stunning. The sets and costumes will be authentic to Moonta at the turn of the century. Acclaimed conductor Tim Sexton heads up an International cast accompanied by the Adelaide Art Orchestra.

2010 marks the 150th anniversary of the discovery of copper in the Copper Triangle. Why not spend some quality time sampling the rich heritage and history of Australia’s Little Cornwall, presented in this uniquely Australian version of Leoncavallo’s opera I Pagliacci.

Family fun fishing for jetty, shore and boat anglers. This is a fun event for everyone. Even in windy weather Port Broughton has many sheltered areas to fish from for shore and boats. The winner is the person with the most variety of fish caught. The sections are for children, adults and families with separate sections for boat and jetty/shore. There are mystery prizes, prize for the longest fish and the biggest crab.

Fishing starts at 1am Saturday 12 June 2010 and finishes 5pm Sunday 13 June 2010. Anglers can fish all night if they choose.

Entry and registration of catch will be at the Port Broughton Community Hall where there will be stalls, displays and food available. Free activities for children as well.

Purchase a plastic duck for AUD3.00 that is allocated a number, you may keep your duck after the race. Ducks can be purchased months ahead before the race and you don’t need to be present on the day. The ducks are set off on the tide in the bay and they race to the finish line. There are approximately 10 prize places.

Rubber Duck Fashion Parade: Either purchase a duck for AUD3.00 or use a duck from a previous race and dress it up. Then enter the fashion parade; owners may dress up as well with their ducks.

Port Broughton, on Yorke Peninsula, South Australia is on the shores of a picturesque, safe, shallow all weather harbour with a lovely grassy shaded foreshore.

The Port Broughton Sails and Ales Spree is a fundraiser for the Port Broughton Sailing and Boat Club. It is to be held in the Port Broughton Community Hall with free admission. The Spree is to present beers, ales, wine, food, boating, fishing, eco friendly products and general stalls. The Port Victoria Royal Volunteer Coastal Patrol Easter Fishing Competition is a fun day for the whole family fishing the clean waters off Port Victoria whether from your boat or on the jetty. Register before hitting the water then weight in your catch by 5pm at the Royal Volunteer Coastal Patrol shed in Main Street and join us for a fun night.

Starting at 7pm there will be barbecue and drinks available followed by the presentation of prizes for the catches of the day. Prizes include heaviest Snapper, Whiting or Squid for adults and children under 16 from a boat and separate sections for the ones confined to the jetty or shore.

The annual Stansbury Art Exhibition features art for the whole family. The range of art on display comes from local residents, as well as artists from the Yorke Peninsula region. In addition to the art displays, there will be a ‘Resident Artist’, who will show techniques in water-colour/acrylics.

Visitors to the Art Exhibition can also vote for a ‘People’s Choice Prize’, and could even purchase one of the works of art as many will be on sale to the public.

There will be face painting for the kids, by ‘Cleo Clown’, from 10.30am to 2pm every day of the art exhibition.

The Stansbury Community gather on the foreshore to celebrate Australia Day with an Aussie barbecue consisting of bacon and eggs, pancakes, tea and coffee. The National Trust tourist train will be running, leaving the station. Climb aboard and enjoy a commentary of the mines by the train driver.

The SYP Minlaton Agricultural Show is filled with lots to do, see and experience in a safe environment for the whole family. Entertainment is provided for all ages and food also for all tastes.

Easy listening music in a relaxed atmosphere, with a showcase of talents to see in the Pavillions. Seminars and horse events are also available to enjoy.

Come and relax in our sheltered, shaded area and enjoy the day while the kids have fun on rides et cetera.

The Rotary Farm Shed Markets are held regularly on the last Saturday of each month in the grounds of The Farm Shed Museum and Tourism Centre.

Goods on offer may include arts and craft, plants, bric a brac, farmers market, home baked cakes and biscuits, sausage sizzle, refreshments, greeting cards, jewellery, oils, body lotions, fresh produce, jams and pickles, pottery, train rides and much more. Stop for an old fashioned Devonshire Tea and have a chat.

The Farm Shed Museum and Tourism Centre is also the gateway to the Kadina Heritage Museum, so why not come for the day.

Come to the market, stay for lunch, and then wander through the fascinating displays that feature the history of the town.

The Wallaroo Street Party has been running for over 20 years. Join us in Wallaroo on Saturday 19 December 2009 to celebrate Christmas!

With stalls of all description and community based activities and attractions, there will be also music and rides for all to enjoy.

Various forms of food and produce, and a variety of all manners will be available from the stalls at the Wallaroo Street Party.

Starting at 3pm, the street party finishes at 9.15pm with a fantastic fireworks display over the water at the Wallaroo Boat Ramp.

Father Christmas will also be at the Wallaroo Street Party from 6pm to 8pm for the children to meet.

The first annual Yorke Peninsula Wine and Roses Expo is proudly presented by Barley Stacks Wines and YorKreation Garden Centre. The weekend will include information sessions run over both days on - flower arranging, wine appreciation, cooking and talks from Nursery Industry Reps.

There will be trade stalls for all your gardening needs and experts on hand to help you get the best out of your garden, plus the opportunity to purchase plants, seedlings, fertilisers, potting mix, pots, giftware, wine and specials only available from the expo. The gardening public will also have the opportunity to choose and order roses for Winter 2010 from the beautiful displays of named roses, where you will be able to see and smell them before you buy. There will also be a formal dinner at the winery on the Saturday night.

Yorke Peninsula Beach Day Out is a family fun day out on North Beach, Wallaroo.

Beach Cricket teams are recruited to play in a mini knock out competition prior to the event and compete on the day, we also have exhibition games which will feature cricketers like Darren "Boof" Lehmann and his all stars who take on some of the region’s top country cricketers in beach cricket.

There will be National volleyball players in exhibition matches with Volleyball SA giving coaching to anyone who wants to play.

Barbecue lunches and drinks available from the Lions Club of Wallaroo for a reasonable cost with all proceeds going to local charities

Yorke Peninsula’s Saltwater Classic is a special event designed to tap into growing national and international appreciation and enjoyment of vessels of a bygone era. These vessels have been faithfully restored by their owners, and they showcase the skills and styles of boat builders from last century. The Australian Maritime Museum defines a classic boat as any vessel with unique and enduring qualities.

Our event attracts people from across Australia to parade their boats in the waters off the sister towns of Stansbury and Port Vincent, and it draws spectators to a variety of water-based and shore-based events. The next regatta will be held on the weekend of 17 and 18 April, 2010. While the focus is on Stansbury and Port Vincent, visitors are encouraged to venture on to other appealing places on Yorke Peninsula.
