Berri Resort Hotel Speedboat Spectacular 2010

Produced by the Riverland Powerboat Club, the Berri Resort Hotel Speedboat Spectacular will attract boats and drivers from all over Australia for two days of spectacular racing and fun for the whole family. With up to 60 boats competing come along and watch powerboats racing at up to 220 kilometres per hour. The event offers two full days of racing - culminating in the Australian Open Unlimited Championship for inboards and outboards, the Stannard Cup. There will also be the running of the Tony Patti Memorial race. Both days offer action packed programmes of races with 15 races on Saturday and 22 races on Sunday - with participants both local and interstate - as well, there will also be racing for juniors, the next generation of thrill seekers. In addition to the racing, unique displays on the water are also planned.

The combination of activities, displays, Sunday shopping and festivities presents a colourful and exciting experience for visitors and community members alike. Throughout the four-week program hundreds of cars and many coach loads of visitors will tour the streets and experience the delights of Santa’s Walk, Christmas Wonderland and other lighted displays throughout the township. Come along to the official opening of Loxton’s Christmas Festival - there’ll be plenty to see and do. Highlights of this year’s official opening include cooking demonstrations by Andre Ursini from Master Chef, carol singers in the Rotunda, an art exhibition at The Terrace Gallery, fashion parades, a chalk drawing competition, go kart displays and heaps of entertainment with bands and choirs throughout the afternoon. Santa will be in his cave with gifts for the children and at around 8.45pm the official opening will be celebrated by a fantastic fireworks display. Great family fun as Loxton celebrates its 53rd Mardi Gras with highlights including the Mardi Gras Parade of floats and crowning of the ambassadors in East Terrace. The main parade commences at 11.45am. The Mardi Gras is a family fun day, with money raised going towards community projects. Most years the event raises over AUD20,000. The fun continues at the Loxton Oval from 4pm with Nippy's Loxton Gift running event heats and the finals taking place at twilight.

This is the 25th year that this private display has been staged at Loxton East. More than 30 stunning displays stretch over 250 metres and include the nativity scene in Bethlehem, Christmas Village, Santa’s Boot, a Field of Angels, miniature replica of Loxton Historical Village Church and popular cartoon characters including Bananas in Pyjamas, The Simpson’s and Where’s Wally? The Athletics Carnival is run each year by the professional arm of the South Australian Athletic League and offers the most prize money in South Australia after the Adelaide Bay Sheffield. Run as a twilight event from 5pm to 10pm, high calibre athletes from interstate and overseas have competed over the past years. All races are under handicap conditions making for exciting finishes. With many events needing heats and semi-finals, there may be up to fifty races throughout the evening of action packed entertainment. With the Stawell Easter Gift Carnival always following a few weeks later, the Nippy’s Loxton Gift carnival provides an ideal lead-up for competitor preparation. The race day is run in conjunction with the Loxton Mardi-Gras and a crowd of more than 3000 is once again expected to attend.

Renmark will again host the very successful and expanding Riverland Balloon Fiesta. Since the initiative eight years ago the event has proven to be a huge success. Hot Air Balloon flights and demonstrations are an amazing experience for all ages. Another huge draw card for this spectacular event is the hot air balloon night glow, where at night, the balloons are tethered and inflated and create a magnificent photo opportunity. The balloon pilots, their families and crews are always excited and enthusiastic to be involved in the event and to see the Fiesta grow. The hot air balloons will be launched from Oval 2, the local Remark hockey field, twice a day, and the community is invited and encouraged to spectate. Commercial flights will also be available to the courageous and those who wish to take in some spectacular and unique views of the mighty Murray River and the Riverland.

The Rock by the River concert is being held to assist locals battling Cancer. The unity of many businesses and individuals in the Riverland will shine with a massive concert at the Loxton Aquatic Club Grounds on the Loxton Riverfront. Six great local and interstate bands will donate their time to entertain the huge crowd – Kitto, The Door Snakes, Overdrive, Shattered Glass, Red Mud and Liquid Jacket. Impressive wakeboard and kneeboard demonstrations will be held throughout the afternoon and the event is fully catered, so no bring your own. Proceeds will go towards The Loxton Hospital Complex Palliative Care Trust to assist locals affected by cancer and their families. Everybody is encouraged to bring their own chairs and blankets.
Rotary Club Of Waikerie International Food Fair 2010
