It’s the largest area of land covered by a Heritage Agreement in South Australia.

On the fully accredited railway, both steam and diesel locomotives pull the train on a 30 minute trip through the museum grounds along the channel and out through the vineyards, while elsewhere in the museum you may see a huge steam traction engine, smaller steam engines, stationary IC engines, and special displays at work.

The museum holds four major operating days each year, featuring the Humphrey Pump, Steam Train Traction Engine, Stationary Engines, the National Trust dioramas and special operating exhibits.

There are many different historical buildings and monuments to view on the walk. Some of the buildings are private residences and you are asked to respect them as such.

Some of the historical buildings you can see include the morgue, the train station platform and ticket office, the wharf area, the sunken barge and steamer, the powder magazine, the Morton Bay fig tree, Post Office Row, the post office, Captain Charles Sturt’s monument, the Postmaster’s residence and the former customs house.

Olivewood , Renmark, South Australia
Olivewood Tours and Attractions See Olivewood, the original home of Charles Chaffey, a Canadian who helped established the Renmark Irrigation Colony using the Murray River to irrigate the lands along its banks.

This State Heritage listed home was built of pine logs in 1889 and is set in spacious grounds surrounded by palms, olive trees and citrus.

See old photographs, cameras, river charts, and the Chaffey Red Book - used to attract investors when the settlement was being established. There's a collection of equipment used in the fruit industry in past years.

The orchard is planted with oranges and approximately 90 olive trees - all that remains of the original larger grove planted in 1890.

A collection of about 3,000 black and white photographs illustrates many facets of early life in Renmark and surrounding districts. See five volumes of biographical essays on the early settlers of Renmark.

PS Industry Tours and Attractions During your next holiday to Renmark in the Riverland, come and enjoy a ride on the Paddle Steamer Industry, which is moored adjacent to the visitor centre.

Commissioned in 1911, the Industry once worked for South Australian Water keeping the Murray River open to traffic. Following a hectic work life the steamer was retired in 1969.

However, a group of volunteers formed in 1990 and the restoration of Industry commenced in earnest. During that year, Industry featured as Lady Mabel in the television production of River Kings, an adaptation of Max Fatchen's well-known novel. Still operated by steam, Industry finally reached survey in 1995 and was recommissioned amongst much fanfare as a historic passenger vessel.

The cruise duration is approximately 90 minutes and includes morning or afternoon tea.

Come and relive our pioneering past and help us to preserve part of Australia's heritage.

Cruises take place on the first Sunday of each month.

Renmark Swimming Centre Tours and Attractions The Renmark Swimming Centre offers more options with the three pools, water slide and mini golf than most other regional centres and all the attractions are located in very pleasant and relaxing surroundings.

The Centre houses the only outdoor waterslide in regional South Australia. The slide is approximately 50 metres in length. The central pool is a 50 metre eight lane Olympic pool being one metre deep at the eastern end and two metres deep at the western end. There is an intermediate pool for children under eight years of age, and a toddler's pool for children under five years.

The complex also houses a nine hole mini golf course, which adds to the attraction of the centre. The golf course is available whenever the centre is open.

The centre opens on the last Sunday in October and closes on the last Sunday in March.
