Almondco Almond Hut is part of Almondco Australia Ltd, situated on the Sturt Highway, Renmark. Almondco Almond Hut was established when there was a need to provide sale of almonds and almond products to both locals and tourist. Almondco is now in its 60th year of operation and was formed for almond growers by almond growers.

Suppliers were contacted and value added products were purchased back. These included local home based, small business as well as larger companies.

Almondco Almond Hut offer a large range of almond base products not seen elsewhere in the Riverland area, we believe this sets us apart from other food based cellars located within the same area.

Berri Estates Winery and Cellar Door Sales are located between Berri and Barmera, on the Old Sturt Highway in the heart of South Australia’s Riverland.
Stop a while, and enjoy wine tasting from a wide range of quality wines, or sample local produce - olives, dukka, oil and quandongs. Local brands include Nottage Hill and Banrock Station.

The Berri Golf Club has beautifully presented grass greens, fully irrigated, highly manicured fairways, gently undulating through mallee trees and native shrubs. There is a mixture of fairway greenside bunkers and doglegs placed to test your shot making skills.

There are two practice fairways and one practice putting green with facilities to hire right and left handed clubs, pull buggies and motorized buggies. Mixed competition days are Wednesday, Saturday and Sunday.

The course offers accommodation with thirty ground floor motel units at Big River Motor Inn, including the Fairway Restaurant for dining.

The course for men, eighteen hole Par 71 and is 6,010 metres with Australian Course Rating 71. The course for women, eighteen hole Par 73 and is 5,284 metres with Women's Golf South Australian Rating 72.

Light snacks are available from 10am to 10pm, lunch available from 12pm to 2pm, dinner available from 6pm to 8pm. Bookings are essential.

The Berri lookout tower has been formed by converting a disused town water tower into a lookout. Wander up the 15.8 metre tower to get stunning views of the Berri Township and the Murray River.

The town's name is derived from the aboriginal word for 'bend in the river' and was proclaimed in 1911. Berri features a gorgeous riverfront with plenty of area for picnics or playing sport and also includes floating wharf platforms, lookouts, historic monuments and an indigenous bridge mural.

Gluepot Reserve is a birdwatcher's paradise. Black-Eared Miners, Red-Lored Whistlers and Malleefowl are among the 18 nationally threatened species which can be seen regularly. Fourteen marked walking trails lead the visitor through the varied vegetation and five elevated bird hides provide magnificent viewing for bird watchers.

Gluepot covers 54,300 hectares of mallee scrub, interspersed with Black Oak woodlands. The reserve has a well-marked track system, suitable for two-wheel-drive vehicles and mountain bikes. There are three camping grounds suitable for tents, caravans and vehicles.

Gluepot Reserve is part of the largest block of intact mallee left in eastern Australia and thus the viability of populations of threatened species is high. The reserve is listed on the Register of the National Estate, and is part of Australia's National Reserve System and the Riverland Biosphere Reserve. It’s the largest area of land covered by a Heritage Agreement in South Australia.

Located at one of the gateways to the Riverland, The Blanchetown Hotel is a 150-year-old heritage listed, historical hotel. The family friendly atmosphere accompanied with some of the best home style food in the region, makes the Blanchetown Hotel a must stop.

Bonneyview Winery and Restaurant is located at Barmera on the main Sturt Highway 220 kilometres north east of Adelaide in the Riverland of South Australia Bonneyview combines the best of old and new techniques to produce boutique, hand crafted wines which have been recognized over the last thirty years with many gold medals and other awards for outstanding achievement.
Wine varieties include dry reds, white table wines and fortified wines.

Bonneyview Wines have also created a kitchen and restaurant, which present carefully prepared European and Australian dishes which complement their wines. The restaurant is open for lunch Wednesday to Sunday 12pm to 2.30pm and is open for dinner on Thursday, Friday and Saturday 6.30pm to late.

Their cellar door is open seven days a week. Tours of the winery for parties of 10 or more (approximately 60 minutes) at a cost of only AUD5.00 per person can also be arranged.

Burk Salter Wines was established in 2002 with Greg and Jane Salter proprietors. It was named after Greg’s father who in the 1930’s helped his father Frank plant the first vineyard in the area. The Cellar Door is situated on Paisley Road, Blanchetown, South Australia.

The building was the old Mobil Service Station owned and run by Burk and his wife Yvonne in the 1950’s and the mechanics garage now houses the tasting room. The rest of the building has been lovingly renovated and now offers Bed and Breakfast accommodation.

The wine is made exclusively from grapes grown on the Salter family vineyards and crafted by talented winemakers to world class standards.

So indulge yourself and take time to sample some fine Riverland boutique wine in a relaxed atmosphere overlooking the vineyard and River Murray.

Located 50 kilometres from Renmark, Chowilla is a tranquil world away from the hectic pace of modern life.

The Cobdogla Irrigation and Steam Museum was originally built as the pumping station for the district's vineyards and horticultural crops

As a major contribution to South Australia's Jubilee 150 year, the then Engineering and Water Supply Department, (now SA Water) refurbished one of the world famous Humphrey Pumps and the Pumping Station grounds to form the Cobdogla Irrigation and Steam Museum.

On the fully accredited railway, both steam and diesel locomotives pull the train on a 30 minute trip through the museum grounds along the channel and out through the vineyards, while elsewhere in the museum you may see a huge steam traction engine, smaller steam engines, stationary IC engines, and special displays at work.

The museum holds four major operating days each year, featuring the Humphrey Pump, Steam Train Traction Engine, Stationary Engines, the National Trust dioramas and special operating exhibits.

Danggali Conservation Park is situated 90 kilometres north of Renmark, in the northern half of the Murray Basin adjacent to the New South Wales border. The park is known for its vastness and wilderness appeal and is dominated by Mallee scrubland. In 1977 the park was classified as Australia's first Biosphere Reserve under UNESCO's 'Man and the Biosphere Program'. The park provides visitors with opportunities to enjoy remote area camping, interesting bird watching and the chance to explore relics of pastoral history.

You can meet Stephen Everingham the resident artist at the Goanna Hill Gallery, which is located at Paringa in South Australia.

Stephen has a passion for the environment and believes in good management of the river systems and the dry lands.

Drawn to paint from a creative conviction and purpose and inspired by the spectacular and uniqueness of the surrounding dry lands and river scape areas, the fauna and flora and the labyrinth of the pioneering historical significance that lies in the not so distant skeletal past. Stephen also paints portraits.

He likes to work in the mediums of oils and watercolour with a representative attitude, a window in time style that has been developed over the trials of living projects of life connected to the here and now.

Havenhand Chocolates are a South Australian owned family business with its heart in the Riverland, the fruit bowl of the state.

With a passion for the quality of Riverland fruit our European trained Chocolatier Janet, has combined her artistic abilities with chocolate produced by a Belgian Chocolate maker to produce award-winning chocolates.

These awards include 'Top Gold' and numerous 'Gold' at the past 2006 and 2007 Adelaide Shows, and 'Sliver' at the Dairy Industry of Australia awards in Sydney.

A recent new expansion includes the development of our Alfresco and 'Chocolate Cafe' dining areas with magnificent views of our Murray River and the installation of our new retail area. The Heron's Bend Reserve area is popular for camping and bushwalking and includes the eight kilometre Overland Corner Walking Trail which takes you past some old Aboriginal campsites. There are some excellent examples of red gum, black box and river coolabah plus several species of mallee and acacia in this area along with cliffs of fossiliferous limestone surmounted by massive oyster beds.

Bushrangers, overlanders, ghosts and a beer! The Historic Overland Corner Hotel is both pub and living museum. This historic hotel was built in 1859 on the site - 'Overland Corner' - which had become a popular resting place for drovers.

If you would like to stay for a bite to eat, lunch is available Tuesday to Sunday from 12pm to 2pm and dinner on Thursday to Saturday nights from 6pm to 8pm. Evening meals on Tuesday or Wednesday nights are available by prior arrangement.

Situated 700 metres from the Murray River and 21 kilometres from Barmera off the Goyder Highway, the hotel boasts the biggest beer garden in the Riverland and includes a quaint dining room with two open log fire for those cold winter days, fully licensed venue, no byo, pool table and heaps of memorabilia of yester year. Kingston Estate Wines is a family-owned wine business that was established in 1979. Today, it has grown to become the tenth largest wine producer in Australia.

Kingston's winery is based at Kingston On Murray, which is 220 kilometres from Adelaide. The production site is a modern winery facility with a crushing capacity in excess of 70,000 tonnes per annum.

Kingston prides itself on producing flavoursome, award-winning quality wines. Sales only - tasting not available.

Loch Luna Game Reserve was established in 1985 and comprises 1,905 hectares. The reserve consists of a range of water bodies including narrow creeks and shallow swamps.

The area contains a variety of environments that provide important habitat for many aquatic birds and mammals. Fishing, boating and enjoying the river are popular recreational activities.

Keep your eyes open for the Royal and the Yellow-billed Spoonbills. Listen out for the harsh call of the Darter as it regularly breeds in Loch Luna. Sea Eagles, Regent Parrots, Pelicans, White-faced Herons and many other birds inhabit the reserves. Kangaroos graze beside the creeks, and, if you are quiet, you might be able to spot a water rat swimming along the edge of the reed beds.

Campers are required to use the designated campsites located along the River and Chambers Creek. Camping permits are required when camping in the park.

The Loxton Golf Course is ranked among the top 10 courses in South Australia, with 18 holes, par 72, Australian course rating 72, 6,061 metres.

Situated to the north of Loxton, the course is well shaded with an attractive variety of trees. The course has hosted a large number of tournaments over the years and has members all over Australia and the world. The course has the traditional nineteenth hole - the clubhouse where players can have a cold drink after a round.

The Loxton Historical Village has an aura of old world charm. When entering the village you will feel like you have been transported back to the late 1890's when the Loxton Township was just being developed. Foundations for the Loxton Historical Village were laid in 1970 when Loxton National Trust branch built a pug and pine replica of 'Loxton's Hut' - there are now over 45 fully furnished buildings and sites depicting and preserving the history and way of life of early Riverland settlers. Several buildings are home to the 1956 Murray River Flood exhibition, an amazing collection of photos showing the heartbreak and destruction.

For a glimpse of what early life was like step back in time on 'Village Alive' days when a number of exhibits and machinery are operational, including the bakery, sheep shearing demonstrations, tractor parade and the blacksmith shop, with staff and volunteers wearing period clothing.

The Loxton Motorhome Reserve provides shady, grassed, drive through sites less than 900 metres from the main shopping precinct.

All vehicles must be fully self contained (no tents, caravans or camper trailers) with a maximum stay of seven consecutive nights. Pets are permitted, but must be on a leash at all times. No water, power or amenities are available on site, however dump point facilities, recycle and rubbish bins are all available. A General Inspector patrols the site checking compliance.

One of the Riverland’s most popular picnic spots, Martin Bend Reserve is situated on the banks of the Murray River a short distance from the centre of Berri.

A popular spot for swimming and water skiing the reserve also has barbecue areas along with a boat ramp. It is also one end of the Lions Club Walking Trail, a two kilometre trail passing along the Berri riverfront linking Martin Bend Reserve with the Berri Marina and the centre of town.

Monash Adventure Park provides fun for all ages including crazy leaning towers, a Burmese rope bridge, wave bridge, mini basketball, flying fox, slippery dip and lots more.

Take your family wandering through the huge maze, with its high walls, secret doorways and little playground hidden inside.

There's free electric barbecues and picnic facilities along with a paddleboat kiosk, and a lovely creek meanders through the park.

Monash Adventure Park is a great place for any family to visit and one of the most popular attractions in the Riverland.

The Morgan Historical Walk includes the Railway Reserve and some of Morgan Township’s buildings of historical significance. The walk starts at the Morgan Museum and takes approximately an hour and a half to complete. It is possible, however, to do most of the tour by car if desired, walking only the short distances of grassed area on the Railway Reserve. There are many different historical buildings and monuments to view on the walk. Some of the buildings are private residences and you are asked to respect them as such.

Some of the historical buildings you can see include the morgue, the train station platform and ticket office, the wharf area, the sunken barge and steamer, the powder magazine, the Morton Bay fig tree, Post Office Row, the post office, Captain Charles Sturt’s monument, the Postmaster’s residence and the former customs house.

The Morgan Museum is situated in the Landseers building and overlooks the lawn riverbank area and the ferry.

Early life in the Morgan area is the theme. This encompasses the farming activities, riverboat trade with the railway linking Morgan to the seaport of Adelaide and the pumping station for the Morgan to Whyalla pipeline.

Superb horse drawn vehicles used for the transportation of goods and passengers are on display along with a 1926 Chevrolet truck in working order. Your family will also enjoy the old telephone exchange set up near the old schoolroom and the farmhouse kitchen.

You will enjoy wandering around the exhibits in the Morgan Museum so be sure to include a visit to Morgan when you plan your next trip to the Riverland in South Australia. A fantastic display of model paddle wheelers from the Peter Barcham collection is also on display. These vessels are important in the history of Morgan.

The Murray River National Park is made up of three separate areas: Katarapko, Lyrup Flats and Bulyong Island.

Katarapko is just four kilometres from the Riverland town of Berri. Dominated by flood plain and containing permanent and semi-permanent wetlands, it is an important breeding area for many forms of wildlife. Explore its peaceful backwaters by canoe, relax on the riverbank watching the numerous waterbirds, hire a houseboat and cruise the river or set up a camp and immerse yourself in the sights and sounds of nature along the Murray.

Lyrup Flats, opposite the town of Lyrup, offers wonderful opportunities to camp, fish, take a ride in a dinghy or stroll along the floodplain.

Bulyong Island is another peaceful getaway, not far from Renmark. Western Grey Kangaroos, Emus, Pelicans, Kingfishers and Parrots have made the island their home and small boat users, house boaters and canoeists are regular visitors.

Oak Works Winery specialises in premium red table wines, it is situated in Renmark West and has only been in production since 2002.

Unlike other smaller wineries Oak Works has no vineyard of its own. It personally hand selects suitable vineyard plots. Oak Works owners collectively have some 35 years of wine industry experience and through their passion concentrate on producing niche varietals of outstanding quality. All wines are matured in Oak for at least 16-22 months prior to bottling.

These wines are designed for the consumers who know and appreciate their product. Some bottled releases are very limited. Please feel free to try our product, as we believe it stands alone on flavour and it will be a memorable and enjoyable experience. See Olivewood, the original home of Charles Chaffey, a Canadian who helped established the Renmark Irrigation Colony using the Murray River to irrigate the lands along its banks.

This State Heritage listed home was built of pine logs in 1889 and is set in spacious grounds surrounded by palms, olive trees and citrus.

See old photographs, cameras, river charts, and the Chaffey Red Book - used to attract investors when the settlement was being established. There's a collection of equipment used in the fruit industry in past years.

The orchard is planted with oranges and approximately 90 olive trees - all that remains of the original larger grove planted in 1890.

During your next holiday to Renmark in the Riverland, come and enjoy a ride on the Paddle Steamer Industry, which is moored adjacent to the visitor centre.

Commissioned in 1911, the Industry once worked for South Australian Water keeping the Murray River open to traffic. Following a hectic work life the steamer was retired in 1969.

However, a group of volunteers formed in 1990 and the restoration of Industry commenced in earnest. During that year, Industry featured as Lady Mabel in the television production of River Kings, an adaptation of Max Fatchen's well-known novel. Still operated by steam, Industry finally reached survey in 1995 and was recommissioned amongst much fanfare as a historic passenger vessel.

The cruise duration is approximately 90 minutes and includes morning or afternoon tea.

The Rain Moth Gallery shop has a wide range of art and craft for sale from Riverland and South Australian artists.

The exhibition rooms feature a minimum of eight new exhibitions per year ranging from paintings, to glass work, to creative crafts, to school students art, and displays of historical importance.

Outside the gallery is an art space featuring mosaic work and sculpture.

The picturesque Renmark golf course is situated on the Sturt Highway in the beautiful Riverland of South Australia.

The course is rated as one of the best country courses in Australia. The flora, fairways and greens are maintained in an exceptional condition. Being a Par 72 with an Australian course rating of 72 and is 6,120 metres.

You will appreciate the garden setting and the abundant wildlife including native birds and kangaroos.

Relax and enjoy a drink at the clubhouse, or try your luck with the poker machines.

Book yourself into the Renmark Golf and Country Club for a few days and wander out of your front door onto the first tee.

You will be able to play any day, usually at the time that you desire. The longest you will have to wait is usually less than half an hour.

The Renmark Swimming Centre offers more options with the three pools, water slide and mini golf than most other regional centres and all the attractions are located in very pleasant and relaxing surroundings.

The Centre houses the only outdoor waterslide in regional South Australia. The slide is approximately 50 metres in length. The central pool is a 50 metre eight lane Olympic pool being one metre deep at the eastern end and two metres deep at the western end. There is an intermediate pool for children under eight years of age, and a toddler's pool for children under five years.

The complex also houses a nine hole mini golf course, which adds to the attraction of the centre. The golf course is available whenever the centre is open.

The centre opens on the last Sunday in October and closes on the last Sunday in March.

Located in Berri, the River Lands Gallery is an easy walk to, or from, the Berri Visitor Information Centre which is located on the riverfront. The gallery is housed in the old Irrigation Office and is part of the Riverland division for Country Arts SA.

Take the time to wander through the gallery, which displays touring exhibitions, along with local artists work and exhibitions.

Australian award-winning themed restaurant, The Mallee Fowl is located on the Sturt Highway in Berri in the heart of South Australia's Riverland the restaurant is the most interesting place to dine out with an experience of good food served inside an old shearing shed filled with an eclectic array of Australian memorabilia.

Built in 1909, this historic six roomed sandstone villa and its contents were bequeathed to the people of Loxton in 2002 for display and entertainment purposes.

The wide driveway lined with mature pine trees makes a welcoming entrance; opening up to spacious gardens of roses, hibiscus and other assorted plants, as well as a lawn area. There is a covered breezeway between the house and kitchen that is used for a variety of community events and functions.

Regarded as one of the best golf courses in South Australia, the Waikerie Golf Club is an 18-hole course with Par 72, 5,971 metres and has Australian course rating of 71.

The course has a new fully automated nighttime watering system with pop-ups and we have established tree lined contoured fairways with extensive grass mounding. There is a driving range, practice putting and chipping greens with licensed clubrooms and catering facilities. Electric golf carts are also available.
