Cobb & Co Coach Run Re-Enactment
,
Maryborough,
Queensland
Did you know that in 1875, the Fraser Coast Show Society commenced operations, right around the time that Cobb & Co were expanding their coach runs into Queensland. Eventually, there were regular runs between Kilkivan and Maryborough, delivering mail and transporting people and goods. Cobb & Co ceased its Queensland operations but the Fraser Coast Show Society continues on and is celebrating Q150 with a re-enactment of the coach run.
The Gambling Community Benefit Fund has awarded funding to the Show Society for a Cobb & Co Coach re-enactment later this year, to take place on the weekend of the 19 and 20 December. "Planning is well and truly underway for the project to take place" said Martine Britton, Executive Officer of the Fraser Coast Show Society. "The route is finalised and will see the coach and four horses mostly on a beaten track rather than on the highway."
