The Captain Cook 1770 Festival has been an annual event for 17 years, commemorating the visit of the Endeavour and landing of Lieutenant James Cook
and his crew on 24 May 1770.

The festival includes a diverse array of cultural entertainment and activities, including an Art Exhibition that has now gone national, Comedy Show, a Short Film Night, Battle of the Bands Competition, Children and Youth Art Space workshops, Re-enactment of Cook's landing, a street parade and weekend-long live music, great food and market stalls - showcasing our magnificent local/regional arts workers and performers.

Highlight of the Saturday night is the fantastic fireworks over the water.

Warm up your engines and grab yourself a front-row seat for the highest-octane event ever to be staged in Central Queensland – CQ Motormania from 17-25 July 2010. The first ever CQ Motormania will take place throughout the Rockhampton and Gladstone regions and will consolidate the strength of the existing motorsport associations throughout the region into a major nine-day festival of events, competitions, displays and social occasions. All Central Queensland racing and car racing enthusiasts and organisations are invited to take part in this major new motorsport event.

Gemfest 'Festival of Gems' is a four day event held annually in August. Just 40 minutes drive west of Emerald, Gemfest is located at the Allen King Memorial Park in Anakie.

There will be approximately 150 traders, miners and merchants showcasing gemstones and jewellery, lapidary supplies and much more. Entertainment and workshops will be held daily at the event and the Saturday Night Spectacular on the 14 August from 6.00p.m. to midnight, live band and fireworks.

The 2010 Rockhampton Home and Lifestyle Expo will offer a diverse range of home improvement and renovation ideas, plus furnishings, lifestyle choices, health products, outdoor living, solar, environmental, and relaxation products. The largest and most prestigious event of the junior surf sports calendar, the Westpac Junior State Championships will see the finest talent from around the state go head to head. The competitors, in age categories from under-11 to under-14, will join approximately 1,500 children from 60 clubs across the state.

The Westpac Junior State Championships will pit the competitors against each other in contests such as the iron events, surf race, board paddle, beach sprints and flags and Rescue and Resuscitation.
