Angourie Beach , Angourie, New South Wales
Angourie Beach Tours and Attractions If the NSW North Coast can be said to have a half dozen legendary point-breaks, Angourie is undoubtedly one of them. ‘Discovered’ in the 1960s by the first generation of Australia’s surfing counter-culture, Angourie remained relatively unheralded for the next three decades.

Famous these days for being Aussie surfing legend Nat Young’s home break, Angourie remains a pristine environment bordered by a national park. The swell needs only be one or two metres for the point to start breaking, at which stage it’s rideable for surfers of most abilities, but anything bigger should only be tackled by confident board-riders. Typically for such an esteemed wave, the local surfing tribes are quite protective and occasionally disgruntled by the appearance of a few blow-ins, but adherence to proper surfing etiquette is all that’s necessary.

Angourie Beach was declared a National Surfing Reserve in 2007, the second site in Australia to be recognised for its significance to recreational surfing and, as such, is considered sacred by Australian surfers.

Lennox Head Beach , Lennox Head, New South Wales
Lennox Head Beach Tours and Attractions Endlessly photographed, filmed and fawned over, the right-hand point-break at Lennox Head is one of Australia’s most famous waves, consistently ranked in the top 10 waves of Australia's 10,685 beaches.

The Lennox Head point break is beautiful to look at but powerful, and to ride it you need to find space among dozens of red-hot local surfers, so it’s not the place for beginners. It breaks onto sand, but there are some round smooth rocks to be scrambled over. Meanwhile, the “Magic Miles” between Lennox Head and Ballina offers a mixture of beach breaks and reefs that work on a variety of wind and swell directions. The only time there aren’t any waves on the Magic Miles is when there’s no swell at all.

Lennox Head was declared a National Surfing Reserve in February 2007, the third site in Australia to be recognised for its significance to recreational surfing and the largest in Australia, it runs 7.2 kilometres from the Surf Club south to Flat Rock.

The New Italy Museum was developed as a tribute to the courage and strength of those pioneering families with the purpose to pass on to future generations their spiritual legacy. The New Italy settlement was built upon dreams - dreams broken and dreams made. It is the story of a group of Italian immigrants who battled great odds, leaving an imprint of success and prosperity, helping to shape the Northern Rivers as it is today.

The New Italy Museum Complex is recognized as representing not only Italians in Australia, but their achievements and accomplishments, as well as the joining together of the Italian and non-Italian community to recognize and commemorate the contributions of those past and present.

The permanent exhibition - 'Recognising our Contribution' – is a collection of the stories of 30 Australian families of Italian origin who settled in the district during the period from 1920 until 1960. Family names involved in the settling of the district include Zulpo, Bolzicco, Donadel, Morelli and Pagotto. The display consists of 68 laminated panels with history records and photographs, plus eight blown up photos of groups of pioneers and some items of art work.

The New Italy Museum Complex also incorporates the New Italy Cafe for delicious coffee and scrumptious cuisine.

The Gurrigai Aboriginal Arts and Crafts Gallery has added a new dimension to the New Italy museum complex. At New Italy there are now, side by side, elements of two ancient cultures which have evolved through thousands of years of human history on the opposite sides of the globe. The intercultural exchanges will generate reciprocal appreciation, understanding, respect and goodwill. The ‘Park of Peace' was established in 1993 to commemorate contributors to the cause of international peace.
Nimbin Candle Factory , Nimbin, New South Wales
Nimbin Candles derived from the need to supply a non-toxic, slow burning, smokeless candle, which could be burnt in confined spaces such as caravans, tents, and tepees, to the local community that had expanded in the early eighties, after the Aquarius Festival in 1973.

Nimbin Candles are made using the age-old method of dipping each individual wick continuously to create a perfect taper. The design for their dipping deck was found and adapted from a book of medieval machinery and is similar to what was found in 11th century monasteries when most candle making was done by monks.

They use only the highest grade paraffin wax, the same wax used in food processing such as greaseproof paper and wrapping cheeses. The dyes they use are vegetable dyes, the same used in batik art.

They have the only Water Driven Dipping Deck, manufacturing up to 1,500 perfect tapers at a time.
