The Basin is the only part of the Ku-ring-gai Chase National Park where camping is permitted.

Overlooking the Hawkesbury River on Sydney's northern outskirts, Ku-ring-gai Chase National Park frames the shores of Pittwater and Broken Bay with sandstone cliffs, eucalypt forests and rainforest. The park also has an extravagant bird life, and a rich legacy of rock art left by the Garigal people, for whom the park is named.

The Basin has toilets, cold showers, gas barbecues and even a shelter shed. Relatively difficult access deters car-boot campers. The camp site can be reached only on foot, via a two-kilometre walk along The Basin Track, or by ferry from Palm Beach Wharf.

The Basin can accommodate 400 people, and has a public telephone and drink vending machine. This is a great spot for swimming, bushwalking, mountain biking, birdwatching and simply relaxing.

About Laddie:
The Timbery family is thought to be descended from Pemulwuy (c.1750–1802). When the Uranie expedition under Louis de Freycinet visited Sydney between 18 November and 25 December 1819, artist Jacques Arago made lively, recognizable sketches of Aboriginal people, including Timbere, a member of the Five Islands Tribe, who was Laddie's direct ancestor.

Laddie Timbery also has a retail outlet at Huskisson on the South Coast of NSW. Laddie Timbery Aboriginal Art and Crafts is located at the Lady Denman Museum. Members of the Timbery family regularly produce the art work and artefacts sold in the shop. Paintings, both traditional and contemporary are on offer, as is Laddie’s artwork. protected under the heritage act of NSW, it is situated on the grounds of the Parramatta Hospital.

The Burnside Homes were built in 1911 by Sir James Burns, a prominent businessman and trader in his time. His vision was realised when orphaned and
destitute children were housed in large group homes within a self-contained village.

Burnside Heritage Centre is a magnificent landmark, with its fairy-tale turrets and architectural styles.
