Tauranga is the sixth largest city of New Zealand. The name of the city translates to “a sheltered anchorage.” Matakana Island protects Tauranga, which is located at the head of a large harbour extending along the Bay of Plenty. Famous for its beaches, Tauranga is considered one of New Zealand’s major resort cities and is famous for being a centre for international trade, fashion, business, horticultural science, and culture. The city’s subtropical climate makes it an ideal destination for the holidays.
The city’s main events include the annual National Jazz Festival and the New Years’ Celebrations which takes place in Mount Maunganui. Some things to see are the Marshalls Farm, Kiwifruit Country, Mauao, White Island, and Longridge Farm. Tourists also often go to the Katikati Bird Gardens to look at some native birds as they walk on trails or go around on golf carts. Adventurous guests and locals can visit the Kiwi Asylum for some dirtsurfing fun. More people should definitely try out this inline board sport which is basically a combination of skateboarding and biking.
