The Capitol Square Hotel Sydney is a handy, cost effective accommodation option if you're planning on seeing a show at the Capitol Theatre next door, or want something close to Central Station, but it probably won't win any hotel of the year awards.

While you're there

The breakfast buffet got the thumbs up from quite a few guests, however several commented on the stained carpet, dented and marked walls. Service reports on the staff ranged from friendly and helpful to rude and uninformed, some unable to give directions to common landmarks.

What to look out for

The most common guest comments were that the rooms are a bit dirty, stuffy, tired and small with low ceilings. The air-conditioning was a bit of a problem for some too, either noisy or not even working, and a few visitors didn't like the hard beds. The bathrooms are small and old, and some have cracked basins.

Not a lot of positive feedback, but some felt that if you just want a night in a handy location right by the Capital Theatre on the relatively cheap, then you may find this hotel OK.
