Each year the cash registers ring along the shopping strips and malls of Singapore to the tune of the Great Singapore Sale.
This year marks the 15th anniversary of madness with the sale season running 23 May to 20 July 2008.
Pick up a copy of the Great Singapore Sale tourist brochure at any of the Singapore Visitor Centres, major hotels or attractions. Inside is a Tourist Privilege Card which you present with your passport at shopping outlets for further discounts.
Most stores in Singapore are open every day from 10am to 9pm, and many stores are open even later on weekends. Fixed prices and price-tagging are the rule at most department stores and retail outlets. But you can still bargain at the street stalls and markets for cash only purchases.
