In spite of the high poverty level in the Philippines, Manila continues to thrive and draw a good number of tourists. It is a predominantly Catholic city, thus the presence of a multitude of shrines and churches. Filipinos highly regard their religion and are passionate about family life and love. The passion in this city is so strong that many people can be seen undergoing the toughest situations to feed the mouths of their children or siblings. Because of this, Filipinos have a reputation for being warm and hospitable. The many shopping centres in Manila attract natives from all over the country. The economy is slowly stabilizing and attracting more and more investors. Although Manila is mostly covered in concrete structures, there are several natural spots that have been preserved. The Manila Bay is known for its striking sunsets. A few hours away are pristine beaches and beautiful mountains.
Hotels and restaurants line the streets of Manila. Finding forms of transportation is easy because there are jeeps, cabs, trains, and tricycles that can be found all around. Although Manila is expensive to live in for most Filipinos, most of the prices are quite low when compared to the cost of living in countries abroad.
