Mission Beach is one of Tropical North Queensland, Australia’s smaller towns. It is located near the famous tourist destination of Dunk Island, which lies only 4 km off the shore and is easily accessed by launch. The town is composed of 4 villages spread out along a thin strip of land situated between the ocean and the farmland and hills behind. Although the town is now a popular tourist area, it still offers a laid back and stress-free environment.
Paronella Park is one of Mission Beach’s primary tourist spots and tours can be arranged here. Tourists and locals can make use of the park’s facilities for activities like picnics, a game of tennis, and some fun and adventure amidst a variety of tropical plants, bridges, and a tunnel. Mission Beach has one of Australia’s most scenic drop zones which is why the original North Queensland Tandem Skydiving Company, Skydive Mission Beach, is based here. What really draws many tourists to Mission Beach is its close proximity to the World Heritage rainforests of the Wet Tropics. It is home to more than half of all of Australia’s butterflies and to the endangered Southern Cassowary.
