The Coromandel Peninsula is found on the north-eastern coast of New Zealand’s North Island. It is a popular holiday destination with sandy beaches and lush forests waiting to be explored. The peninsula tends to get very busy during the summer months with local holiday makers and tourists. It is a hub for many of New Zealand’s art enthusiasts because of the studios and galleries showcasing renowned artists’ works. The gateway to the peninsula is Thames.

Tourists can get around the peninsula by bus, car, or bike. They can also hire yachts if they want to sail around instead. Some attractions are the Hahei and Cathedral Cove, Thames Coast, and Hot Water Beach. Because many artists have chosen to make Coromandel their home, there is an arts and crafts trail along the peninsula. Attractions on the trail include Mercury Bay Art Escape and Driving Creek Railway. The peninsula also has marine reserves that attract many scuba divers.
