There was a very good reason why the great and the grand built their villas at Pallanza two centuries ago. It stands on a promontory that juts out into Lake Maggiore where the view of the lake the mountains and the Borromee Islands is enough to make you gasp! And when you catch your breath the scent of myriad flowers fresh on the breeze will amaze you. Such is the home of the Grand Hotel Majestic basking in a benign micro climate unique to the area. The hotel was built in 1870 in the idiom of Belle Epoque and designed to do justice to that mesmerising panorama. As you enter the lobby there it is again framed in giant picture windows!
