Located in the heart of Maremma, between Siena, the Chianti region and Rome and close to the Saturnia’s Thermal Baths, Quercia Rossa is a charming Country House with an elegant atmosphere, surrounded by hills of olive groves and vineyards.

All rooms have antique furniture, Neo-Rennaissance beds, gilded bronze sconces, lamps of Murano crystal, and relics of exotic voyages, coming from the Tuscan villa of the Victiorian English traveller, Augusta Belloc.

Every morning Quercia Rossa offers breakfast in the main hall, opened on the beautiful garden with lawns, roses and cypresses, and a magic swimming pool overlooking unspoilt tuscan hills. Guests can also reserve for an intimate dinner based on the tipical flavours of Tuscany as fresh home made pasta, local meat, delicate cheese and vegetables.

The location at the center of Maremma makes the Quercia Rossa a privileged base for discovering the charm of the wooded Grosseto countryside: Capalbio, Monte Argentario, Pitigliano, Sovana, Montemerano and the natural cascades of Saturnia, a highly desirable tourist destination, ideal in the off-season, where to relax with massages and thermal baths.

In some historical book,Tornano is mentioned since the XI century. And with Tomano it is celebrated the noble Guamellotto Mezzolombardi as first owner of the castle, who became famous for his strong resistance to the emperor Frederick "Red Beard".

The elegant and charming rooms are equally distributed along the castle and the tower .

The suites are furnished with antique furniture, the bathrooms have a unique style. The romanticism of these rooms is stressed by the given names which recall famous couples in love or great and brave women of the past.

In this fantastic spot of green the big farmhouse has been restored in few fine and cosy independent apartments. The renovation respects the original rural structure. The stone house offers from each window a memorable view. Each apartment has a terrace or an outdoor space.

Dating back to the 18th century, the rural village spread a top hill, 400 mt. high, in the heart of the Chianti region, in a very suggestive countryside. Vineyards and olive groves surround the group of farmhouses of which Quercia al Poggio is a well integrated part. Once upon a time about 60 persons were living in the Estate self-producing all the necessary they needed: today the village is dedicated to our guests while the Estate is producing biological wine and extra-vergine olive oil.

The well exposed vineyards, favourable climate and the specific terroir of the area, are at the basis of a high quality viticulture which produces wines like Chianti Classico D.O.C.G, Riserva and the Red Tuscan Le Cataste I.G.T Quercia al Poggio. Olio extravergine, Grappa di Sangiovese, Vinsanto e Honey are the other products made.

A nice swimming pool and other facilities are available for a pleasent stay.

The "Villa S. Andrea" estate extends to approximately 600 hectares in the Chianti Classico area. It is situated a few kilometres away the old Borgo di Fabbrica, a small hamlet made of the Villa, the little church, the wine cellar, the oil mill and some other rural buildings.

The best areas of the estate have been devoted to the cultivation of vines.

The 50 hectares vineyard lies at an altitude of 250 metres above sea-level. Of the 50 hectares, 41 are planted with DOCG vines for the production of the Chianti Classico DOCG wine. The property includes also an area of 80 hectares which has been planted with olive trees for the production of the extra-virgin olive oil.

In the below valley the cultivation of cereals is irrigated by two big artificial lakes.

The woods of chestnut-trees, oaks, cypresses and acacia, which are also part of the property, are still inhabited by some typical wild animals of the area.

Nature and comfort in the hearth of Tuscany in a Medieval village surrounded by olive groves and forest trees, located in the Florentine Chianti hills, close to Florence, Siena and Arezzo.

You may choose from 9 apartments, skilfully restored in the 2005, of different types and sizes (starting for 2 person up to 9/10 persons); some of the apartments are inside a medieval tower and a country house dating back to 1700, some others in the adjoining houses are dated 1800. All apartments have a living room, kitchen/cooking space (two plates) with dishwasher, bedroom/bedrooms, shower, air conditioning, heating, tv, phone and most of them have private and furnished gardens or terraces.

After having walked trough the beautiful surrounding woods, you may choose to relax in our swimming-pool (sizes: 17x7mtrs, depth 1,40 mtr) set in olive grove, where also children have their own private water-playing poll (depth 30 cm). Another delight is to follow a path inside the farm, leading to the Cinta Senese breading pigs and many other farm animals including, rabbits, ducks, turkeys etc....

In the Village you may then taste and buy the farms many products, such as extra-virgin olive oil, honey and zolfini beans.
