Hotel Address
Via Cocumella N7
Sorrento
Italy 80065
Hotel Description
Sorrento is a town of legends and gardens. Away from the bustling town centre lies a park above a dramatic 100 metre cliff enjoying views of the Bay of Naples and Mount Vesuvius beyond. This is the site of the Grand Hotel Cocumella built in the 16th century as a Jesuit monastery and converted to a hotel in 1822. The hotel has 50 elegant air-conditioned bedrooms and suites charmingly furnished in the local tradition with antiques. Special features range from a seaside solarium and a private chapel for concerts to Cocumella*s own tall ship Vera built in 1880 and used for day cruises along the Amalfi Coast and to Capri. The Scintilla Restaurant romantically overlooking the park serves Mediterranean cuisine accompanied by fine Italian wines. In summer the Agrumeto presents a relaxed barbecue lunch under the shade of orange trees by the pool. As Goethe discovered in his time this peaceful spot is the perfect seaside escape.
