Chiang Mai is a city found in Northern Thailand. It is highly cultural because it has been a city for around 700 years. This age makes it a focal point in Thailand when it comes to the observance of tradition and preserved history. Some of the most notable are Loi Kratong which is held on the 12th month of the traditional lunar calendar, Songkran (Thai New Year) which is held in April, Chiang Mai Flower Festival, an event held in the first weekend of February each year, and Tam Boon Khan Dok, the city pillar festival held on the 6th lunar month.
Chiang Mai can be reached by bus from Bangkok. The local transportation in the city consists of cars and motorbikes. The famous tuktuks, three-wheeled vehicles, can also be found here. This makes transferring from place to place extremely easy in the city.
