The Steinhart was built in 1910 by banker entrepreneur benefactor to San Franciscos Steinhart Aquarium in Golden Gate Park and resident of the Steinhart from 1910 to 1917 Ignatz Steinhart1836-1910. Today the Steinhart retains its historic turn-of-the-century character while offering modern conveniences. The building is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. The public area of the building has recently been renovated by William Soefield of New Yorks Studio Soefield giving the Steinhart a completely refreshed look by combining its original design with modern material to create comfortable and elegant atmosphere.
