Dunedin is an island located in the Otago region of New Zealand. In the South Island of the country, it is the second largest city. The local folk here are known for being friendly compared to people found in the larger cities of New Zealand. The city is packed with attractions for tourists. The Speights Brewery is a landmark of the city because it was founded in the year 1876. Another popular attraction is Cadbury World, a factory where families are invited to take guided tours in.
For those who are interested in the botanical aspects of the city, there is the Dunedin Botanical Gardens. It comes with an aviary and several gardens you can spend hours in. The Orokonui EcoSanctuary is another great place to bring your kids to. Many of New Zealand’s rare wildlife are found here. Flora and fauna specific to the area are allowed to thrive in the sanctuary. In Dunedin is the sole castle of the country. Lanarch Castle is somewhat small but has quite an interesting history.
If you get tired of the city, there are other fascinating spots nearby. Blueskin Bay is 30 minutes north, and Invercargill is around 2 hours south of Dunedin.

Location and surrounds - Located a twenty-minute scenic drive from Dunedin city in the grounds of the famous Larnach Castle. One of the things to see in Dunedin area is the Royal Albatross Yellow-eyed Pengiun colony, which is 30 minutes drive. Visitors can enjoy a tour of the Castle, or admire the magnificent gardens, which Margaret Barker has been working hard devloping for the last 30 years.
