It is rich in native flora and fauna edged with mangrove foreshores and sandy beaches providing respite from the outside world. An eco-tourism dream and bird watchers nirvana the island offers a variety of experiences.To reach the island you catch a water taxi or vehicle barge from the seaside suburb of Redland Bay. The Water taxi is located at the southern end of Banana Street and it takes approximately 15 minutes to reach Macleay Island. The Vehicle Barge to Macleay Island is approximately an hour from both Brisbane and the Gold Coast. It is located at Weinham Street and will take approximately 40 minutes to get to the island.
