Kochi, formerly known as Cochin, is one of India’s major port cities. It is found on the western coast of the country, and is right by the Arabian Sea. This highly urbanized and bustling commercial port is home to more than two million people. The cosmopolitan culture of this city was brought about by the influence of historical trading partners from Portugal, China, Japan, the Netherlands, and Saudi Arabia. The city’s tropical climate makes it an ideal destination. The weather is at its best in the months of September to February. From the second week of May to the first week of September, the city experiences heavy rainfall.
Many tourists prefer to visit the city on the month of December because of the famous Cochin Carnival and the joyous Christmas celebrations.
