Krabi is a beautiful city in Southern Thailand. It is located by a river that pours out to the Andaman Sea. With a population of around 25,000, Krabi is a very relaxed and laid back place. It is much like its neighbouring sea – calm and pristine. The city can be reached by plane, boat, or car from the other parts of Thailand. The Krabi International Airport is around 15 km away from the city centre. There are daily flights to the city from Bangkok, and Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. Ko Phi Phi is a ferry ride away. To go around the city, one can walk, take a cab, or get a songthaew.
There are many famous temples to see and take pictures of in the city. There are also spas that are unfortunately reputed to be extremely expensive. Although a massage can be costly, food and lodging in Krabi Town is cheap as the cost of living in the area is relatively less compared to the resorts outside town and in Bangkok.
Next to the piers is a night market known for its charm and cheap good food. Another market can be found in the centre of town. Here, there are fresh fruits and traditionally cooked dishes.
