Main Beach is known for being one of the best beaches of Gold Coast. It was originally known as Southport East. Although the use of the beach is quite limited, it is sprawling with sophisticated hotels and restaurants. The casual lifestyle the beach has to offer attracts a good number of locals and foreigners every year. It has developed into a neighbourhood for permanent residents as well.
One of Main Beach's attractions is a nearby sandbar commonly known as Spit. This long strip of sand separates the Pacific Ocean from the Broadwater. Many fishermen and surfers frequently visit the sandbar. The SeaWorld Theme Park and several shopping and dining centres can be found along Spit.
Main Beach is also closely located to some of Gold Coast's dive sites. The Scottish Shipwreck is located nearby.
