Hyderabad or the City of Pearls is one of India’s largest metropolitan areas. The city’s rich history and heritage are largely responsible for its attractiveness to not only locals but also foreigners today. As a rapidly developing IT hub, it competes with another Indian city, Bangalore, and is home to some popular India headquarters of information technology corporations such as Microsoft and Google.

The city is split into two parts: the old and the new. The new city is found on the north bank of the Musi River and contains most of the administrative offices of Hyderabad. There is also an area here called Shilparamam which mainly promotes the city’s old ways with an arts and crafts village and many locals observing old traditions. The old city, which holds most of the historical and cultural attractions, is found on the south bank. Some of its must-see historical attractions are Charminar, Mecca Masjid, Qutub Shahi Tombs, and Falaknuma Palace. Hyderabad has a twin city, Secunderabad, which lies on the north-eastern part of the Hussain Sagar Lake, one of Hyderabad’s main bodies of water.

Because the city has a tropical climate, the best time to visit would be from late November to early February. The months of March to June tend to be very dry; there are occasionally thunderstorms during these months.
