While you're there

There are standard, deluxe, and suite accommodations that are designed elegantly to suit the business and leisure traveler, and the refurbishments happening currently are geared towards further modernization and utmost comfort in style. Recreation is provided on-site by a well-equipped gymnasium, spa, sauna, and an indoor and outdoor pool. For non-stop recreational activities, the Burswood Entertainment Complex has something for everybody with the casino open 24 hours a day. Families can visit the theatre and enjoy nightly shows and concerts. Honeymooners and young adults who can’t get enough of their night can choose from a variety of restaurants and cafés within the complex and dine, have a few drinks, or just talk over coffee before retreating to their rooms. A vast choice of restaurants and bars abound the hotel and complex.

What to look out for

The hotel has been undergoing renovations and some adjoining facilities will be limited during this period which will continue until around December 2012.

For many international visitors, the hotel is close to being a resort, with its contemporary architecture and the sprawling outdoor and indoor swimming pool reflecting the sun. Everyone gave a two-thumbs-up on the hotel breakfast and the Asian food being served in one of the on-site restaurants, although it came with a price. Nevertheless, they would be willing to pay a little extra for a superb gastronomical treat. Most of the guests had nothing but great experiences during their stay especially families who stayed to watch musical shows. There were also very positive remarks on convenient location and the comfortable and tidy accommodations. However, there were complaints of foul odor in their bathrooms and bedrooms being dusty and dated. Management has acknowledged this and has asked for consideration as the hotel is currently being refurbished, including the bedrooms, so that customers will have an excellent stay. Customer service was reportedly slow with staff possibly requiring more training but others complimented hotel staff mentioning even that service in the pool and lobby was admirable. Guests have considered their stay in the Intercontinental being quite pricey but remarked that luxury comes with a price.

Ask for a room that has already been refurbished, or away from the renovations or the hotel atrium - especially if you enjoy a late morning sleep in.
