There are several car hire outlets in Broome where you can rent a scooter, car, 4WD or even a motorhome. Broome Taxis offer metered taxis and also run the airport to hotel shuttle buses. The0 Town Bus Service is a cheap and easy way of getting around Broome with services every half hour during peak season. The route takes you from Town Beach through to Chinatown and onto Cable Beach. Kids under 16 years travel free with an adult, and adult fares start from $3.50 one way.
What to do and see in Broome - On the shores of Roebuck Bay, Chinatown is home to many pearl shops, art galleries, restaurants and bars. Head out along Dampier Terrace to Streeter’s Jetty and see two fully restored original pearling luggers.

The Courthouse Markets are held at the old Broome Courthouse on Saturday mornings. The building was the original Cable House. Stock up on fresh fruits and vegetables, hand made souvenirs and locally made crafts.
At low tide, you can view dinosaur footprints more than 130 million years old in the vivid red sandstone cliffs of Gantheaume Point. Visit Anastasia's Pool, where a former lighthouse keeper hand carved a round rock pool so that his arthritic wife could soak in the warm waters of the Indian Ocean.
Also at low tide, Staircase to the Moon is a naturally occurring phenomenon where the full moon reflects on the Roebuck Bay mudflats, creating an image of a long silvery staircase. This occurs between March and October.

Cable Beach is named after the undersea telegraph cable which linked Australia to Java and the rest of the world. There are a range of restaurants and cafes along the grassy stretch of Cable Beach Esplanade. Take a camel ride along the beach and enjoy a spectacular sunrise or sunset. The beach is perfect for swimming or you can 4WD along the northern side of Cable Beach. Just watch out for nude sun-bathers!
Tour a pearling farm, there are several around Broome. At Willie Creek Pearl Farm you can discover how the rare and beautiful Australian South Sea Cultured Pearls are produced.
The Malcolm Douglas Crocodile Park is home to one of the best crocodile displays in Australia. You can take a guided feeding tour and see crocodiles which have been captured and relocated to the park. The same group run a Wilderness Wildlife Park and Animal Refuge just 15 minutes out of Broome, where you can watch 200 crocodiles in a feeding frenzy and wander through bushland to spot wild local birds, kangaroos, wallabies and dingoes.
Broome Town Beach faces out onto Roebuck Bay. There is a fantastic shaded children’s playground area and even a water play area with buckets, squirting hoses and water cascades. Parents can relax in the cafe and watch the kids having fun.
