The Hotel Mocambo was built in the 1940s by Spanish architects who gave it a spectacular Mediterranean type setting. The hotel was constructed on Mocambo Beach upon the highest land in the region which provides a spectacular view of the sea from its enormous terraces. As the hotel faces east one can watch the unequalled spectacles of the sunrise or the moon and its reflections. In its lush gardens one will find coconut palms bugambilias birds of paradise tropical vegetation and a variety of regional birds. The hotel has three swimming pools a wading pool and a water slide for children and for those who wish a spa with everything one needs to relax and enjoy a healthy vacation. The pool bar is open during the day and at night the El Ancla Bar is an ideal complement to the La Fragata Restaurant which serves regional and international foods and seafood specialties. The El Mirador cafe offers a full buffet and an unequalled view of the Gulf of Mexico. The Mocambo has in a special class of its own. Children under the age of 12 stay free in the room with parents and in existing bedding. Children age two-12 receives a 35 percent reduction for the breakfast buffet.
