What Guests Say About the Hotel

  • Value for your money is what the satisfied customers of The Cecil Guesthouse liked most about it.
  • Guests claimed that the rooms were spotless and comfortable, not to mention affordable.
  • The location was convenient and ideal because it is near the town's main street.
  • Services provided by the hotel staff and manager were commended for being helpful and kind, going out of their way to make the guests' stay enjoyable. Examples of such thoughtful acts were leaving Easter eggs at the guests' doors during Easter Sunday and helping with the guests’ travel itinerary.
  • The main concern of some guests was about the age of the property. This was understandable, considering that it is the longest running traditional bed and breakfast in Katoomba. Renovation is initiated by the new hotel management and this has been noticed by recent customer reviews. Many of the vacationers who stayed at The Cecil Guesthouse are actually excited for it to be restored to its former grandeur because it is one of Blue Mountain’s historic and charming properties.

What the Hotel Can Offer

Accommodation at The Cecil Guesthouse ranges from an Ensuite, a Two Bedroom Ensuite Getaway, a Two Family Ensuite, a Heritage Room, Mixed Dorm, and a Single Room. Linens and towels are also provided, together with a free newspaper. Modest hotel amenities like a games room, gardens, library, a picnic area with barbeque, a tea room, a TV room and Wi-Fi internet are available for the enjoyment of guests. The Cecil is also ideal for intimate gatherings such as birthday and Christmas parties, team building, corporate retreats, and other functions.

While in the Blue Mountains

While the Blue Mountains is home to natural wonders, one can also plan their visit based on the year round events happening in the area. During summer season (December - February), travellers can experience the festivities through the Carols under The Grand Arch, Concerts in The Caves, The Jenolan Christmas Festival, and the Norman Lindsey Gallery Annual Jazz Festival in the Gardens. In autumn (March - May), the weather is perfect for the Blackheath Regional Food and Wine Festival, the Mount Victoria Village Great Train Weekend, The "Six Foot Track Marathon", and The Blue Mountains Music Festival. Every winter (June - August), there is the 'Mad Hatters Tea Party’ at Mount Tomah Botanic Gardens, The Earth Spirit Festival, and The Winter Magic Festival. During spring (September - November), the town blooms with Blackheath Rhodedendron Festival and Art Show, the Breehold Gardens Springfest Concert, Glenbrook Festival of Art and Craft Fair, and The Australian Tribal and Trance Festival. If you are not sure which of the four seasons you would like to visit, The Cecil Guesthouse can arrange travel packages based on your needs and interest. Guests are encouraged to send an email and inquire about such in advance.
