Koh Samed is a beautiful island located in the Gulf of Thailand. It is only around 2 hours away from the country’s capital, Bangkok, and is part of the Rayong province. The island has 14 white sand beaches. It is surrounded by vibrant coral reefs that can be explored by swimming, snorkelling, and scuba diving. Since Koh Samed is a national park, visitors must pay a “once only” entrance fee on arrival (around 200 baht) for foreign adults.

Activities on the beaches include boating, fishing, and jet skiing. Sometimes, there are sightings of manta rays and turtles in the surrounding marine reserves. Guests are allowed to pitch their tents on the island for a fee of 20 baht/person/night. On most evenings, people gather out onto the beaches to lights lanterns and watch small firework displays. Most bars close at midnight with respect to the island being a national park.
