Bohol is an island province in the Philippines. The main island is surrounded by 75 smaller islands. It is a popular tourist destination because of its resorts and beaches. The capital city is called Tagbiliran.

Bohol’s most famous attraction is the Chocolate Hills. This consists of 1,268 individual mounds that are around 30 to 50 meters high. They are covered in green grass, but during the dry season, the hills are brown and look like chocolate mounds. Geologists, up to this day, are unable to come to a conclusion as to how the hills were formed. This is what makes the Chocolate Hills even more mysterious and interesting. Another main attraction is one of the island’s indigenous species, the Philippine Tarsier. It is considered the second-smallest primate in the world. Also, take note of Panglao Island which is home to some of the country’s best diving sites.

Tourists should visit the island when its festivals are held. The Festival of Lights is held on August 30 to September 8. Many festivals such as the Tagbiliran City Fiesta and Bolibong Kingking Festival are held in the month of May.
