the golf course spreads over an area of about 120
hectares, bordered by a dense wood of holm oaks,
vast olive plantations and the lush spontaneous
vegetation, giving the whole a true mediterranean
feel. the whole round is played in a setting
where the presence of man is barely perceived,
and where the eye sweeps over horizons of nature
and pure air alone. the mild climate of the
salento area also means that golf can be played
throughout the year sunny days are a pleasant
constant factor in this area, and in the summer
there is usually a gentle breeze to refresh the
air. the almost absolute lack of hills also
favours a constant flow of air, which is
therefore always fresh and clean.
the club house of the golf hotel is magnificent,
converted from the masseria san pietro, a fine
twelfth-century building, with its unmistakable
courtyard structure. the interior of the club
house includes, on the ground floor, welcoming
rooms for meetings and relaxation, a well-stocked
pro shop, the bar, restaurant, changing rooms and
showers, as well as deposit for equipment. the
first floor is, instead, dedicated to quieter
rooms, for games and meetings. the cloister
around which the club house stands, instead,
houses the open-air bar and restaurant from march
to october.
